The model and the rendering appear to have nothing to do with each other-- different locations--

Is the city spending any money at all over there? Seems like the infrastructure hasn't changed a bit. Maybe it's time for a CID.

^ You can't form much of a CID from apartment buildings and some retail. You've really got to have major businesses/office that can provide the tax support ala downtown/midtown/cumberland. May be better than nothing, though.

Yeah I guess that wouldn't work out too well, and the industrial businesses wouldn't gain anything from it. They need to figure something out, though. Improvements are lagging way behind growth.

Wasn't a CID just formed very recently for that area? Like not even a year ago I think

Infrastructure improvements to this area can't come quick enough (I know some things are already in the works). They also need to take a hard look at transit as well.

Yup-

Originally the Westside/Howell Mill CID but rebranded to the Upper Westside CID (there's also a West End CID not too far from here and believe there used to be a West Atlanta CID at some point).

Third & Urban's Development on Beltline

Third & Urban's redevelopment of the rest of the warehouse next to Two Urban Licks reveals updated renderings.

Quote:
Atlanta-based Third & Urban has revealed its vision for the former Western Electric Building along the BeltLine. Called Common Ground, Third & Urban plans to redevelop the property at 550 Somerset Terrace that will include a New Realm Brewing Co. brewery along with two restaurant concepts by The Diligence Co. Diligence plans to open a European and Latin-inspired brasserie called Bazati Hall and a 3K SF rooftop champagne and cocktail bar called Estrella. New Realm — founded by former Stone Brewing brewmaster Mitch Steele and partners — will operate a 20K SF brewhouse with a 3K SF rooftop patio and restaurant. The $25M, 75K SF project directly across the Atlanta BeltLine from Ponce City Market is expected to be renovated and open by this fall. “Many buildings have historically had their back turned to the BeltLine. The trail is now one of Atlanta’s greatest physical assets, and this project is intended to face and embrace the BeltLine,” Third & Urban partner Pierce Lancaster said.

This play is going to be packed. This is the type of development interacting with the BeltLine that we want for the area. Bravo. Can only wonder how much a beer will cost though, hah!

Newport is moving fast. I was just in South Downtown and they already have construction workers on site in a lot of the buildings they own on Peachtree. Talked to one and they are just doing some basic demo and removal so far but already have the building permit and hoping to roll straight into full construction.

Thanks. I did a quick search before my comment but never thought to use "Upper Westside," haha. Glad to see there's something, but it definitely ain't Manhattan

Love this type of development along the BeltLine. It needs to graduate into more office developments and live/work places next.

Jamestown moving ahead with PCM rezoning for expansion

The article itself doesn't appear to have any new information. Just stating "the city’s Zoning Review Board could vote on the proposal in October".

Looks like an appropriate addition for the neighborhood. My only gripe is depending on how the towers are joined, the pool will not get much sun. It's Buckhead, every development should have a rooftop pool with sweeping citywide views! hah!

Planning permit filed for rezoning of 55 Milton Ave SE for a multifamily residential development. This is along the Beltline Southside trail corridor near DH Stanton park (subarea 2), and I believe would be the first new residential development on this part of the Beltline corridor. I can't find any more information on it except it appears to be from Prestwick companies.

Planning permit filed for rezoning of 574 Boulevard Pl NE for 16 townhomes. This is on the block on the SW corner of Glen Iris and North.

Planning permit filed for 14 new townhomes at 575 Eloise in Grant Park.

The Grant Park projects reminds of the small types of projects near Balboa Park in San Diego. They are little projects but very nice.
