What does any of this have to do with SkyCity?

I'm calling the Skyscraperpage police.

Because there's nothing to talk about on SkyCity.

^ Ha... those were the days. There were so few TV channels back then that even someone on public access TV could become fairly well known around town.

I've sort of taken a liking to Mondays for this reason. Each new week promises the potential of some new project being announced or new rumours being discussed. New project announcements are like crack to me... well the good ones anyway. Suburban junk just depresses the hell outa me.

The WFP's business section usually runs something development/commercial real estate related in Monday's edition, so there is always that to look forward to.

That said, today's story is about a boring 5-storey luxury condo development way out on Henderson, so not much to talk about there.

Rated M for 'meh'

If you check what they've been building recently on Henderson. This is gold plated haha. Actually looks like an apartment building. As opposed to a stucco suburban box on steroids.

Luxury and Henderson are not synonymous with one another, unless they're referring to land north of the Perim. (ie East St. Paul and vicinity).

Those weren't marketed as luxury though

But I tell you, they look good for social housing

The Kildonan Drive neighbourhood would be the most 'luxurious' in the area. Some nice houses on the Drive. Some nice areas in the surrounding streets give a certain feel to them.

East St. Paul has some big houses. Again, not that 'luxurious'.

Only place in Winnipeg that statement would feel right is Wellington/Old Tuxedo area. I guess your home could be luxurious, while the neighbourhood is not. Anyways, glad this discussion is in the expresso thread!

I was on the sidewalk in front of the old GWL HQ (80 Osborne) taking pictures of the sculpture above the entrance and the security guard popped her head out the door and told me I couldn't do that. Is that legit? And why would that be? Does the property go right to the curb instead of the sidewalk? Something to do with IP? Security issue maybe? Or just —?

I looked up some tags relating to it on Insta and I only came across two pics, although there's plenty on google.

Any of yous heard of this..?

If you were on public property, you have every right to take pictures of it.

^ Thanks that's what I figured. I had already taken my shot so the confrontation was benign:

"Excuse me sir you can't take pictures"
Says who
"The people who own the building"
Is that posted somewhere
"No that's why-"(passing traffic too loud)
Okay

I was getting paranoid thinking it was something like Zillow threatening to sue McMansion Hell or the fuss over the Portlandia statue.

They are concerned about terrorists or other criminals staking out the place to plan something. Nothing more. Obviously if you are on public property there is nothing they can do to stop you. Typically they just ask you some questions.
