Caught on camera: Cyclist beaten with club in apparent road rage incident

A disturbingly violent incident was caught on camera Tuesday in Peterborough, Ont., believed to be associated with a road rage incident.

In an extended version of the video, taken around 11 a.m. Tuesday, a man can be seen striking a cyclist at least four times with a small club as he pins him to the ground beside a black Dodge Ram pickup truck.

When the driver realizes that he’s being filmed, he quickly gets up, pockets the club and shouts, “I tried to walk away!”

The camera then focuses on the blood-splattered face of the 74-year-old victim.

^I saw the clip of that in the background while at a work lunch today. I was like wtf, is this in the GTA?? Then saw the clip of the Peterborough police and it made sense. I don't want to judge, and I've been to some cool places there, but heard too many stories from former coworkers who live there. Not to say it can't happen anywhere in Ontario. Truckbros.

I have fucking had it up to here with assholic, small dick pickup truck drivers. Two fuckers have run me off the road (I was biking) this year. Both of whom were pickup truck drivers. These guys are not the salt of the earth. They are shit on a stick...with corn.

Who the fuck carries a club with them? Owning that should lead to charges. I also liked the other road rage incident at the end of the video where - you guessed it - a pickup truck purposely drives into a car. Asshats!

On a lighter note I just got back from a trip to Vancouver island. On the way back from Tofino to Victoria we stopped at a Tim's in Port Alberni. I don't have the same level of distaste as some here for their coffee and desperately needed caffeine as the long drive was making me sleepy. The environment inside could best be described as a zoo of grandparents yelling at their grandkids. One old guy with a mustache kept telling his granddaughter to "drink your drink stupid". But the one that took the cake was this grandma behind us in line who literally asked her grandson and everyone in the family about 50 times if they wanted a 'chocolate dip'. I half considered buying the last two and throwing them in the trash before she could order them. My wife and I both laughed our asses off in the car afterward asking if the other wanted a chocolate dip. That woman should be in a padded cell.

That one kind of hurts because I'm watching my grandmother slip into Alzheimer's. She can't remember the questions she asked and she can't remember the answers she gets. She lives in a secure building so that she doesn't wander off. But it is still painful.

I don't think she actually had Alzheimer's. She was just oblivious and overbearing. It's hard to explain if you weren't there. She had her faculties. She just happened to have that obliviousness where old people think they are being comforting by narrating aloud and repeating shit over and over again. It was stuff like "Timmy's gonna have a chocolate dip." "Hey mom, timmy's gonna have a chocolate dip." "Does Trina want a chocolate dip?" I never knew simple words like chocolate dip repeated incessantly could become so painful to hear. It was like a form of torture.

heheh. I have stopped at that Tim's many times...everytime that I went out/back to/from Tofino, and also when camping at nearby Cameron Lake.

Although I applaud the Chinese government for banning Bieber (can we make this a global thing, actually?) if you listened to Chinese "pop music" you might actually decide that Bieber is a breath of fresh air. Nothing more depressing than Chinese radio music. I don't know how my wife can stand it but she loves it...somehow.

He was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, which is what one would expect, based solely on the video. He was released from custody and will be in court August 24.

Fun fact - there's apparently pretty good evidence that Adolph Hitler had hypospadias (frequently associated with micropenis). This probably explains why he didn't marry Eva until the bitter end. As for Adolph's taste in music, I have no idea if he was acquainted with Nickelback.

I've heard that before. Not surprising. I think nothing annoys me more in life than macho idiots trying to overcompensate for something. 90% of the time I see some jacked up pickup truck the guy who gets out of it is below average height. Then they work out obsessively so they appear about as wide as they are tall (4x4) and cover their arms in bad tribal tattoos. I imagine the same thing applies below the belt. Not the tribal tattoos hopefully though.

Why isn't there a backstory to this? Anyway, it's inexcusable, the ugly Canadian. When I'm driving I consider it imperative to be ultra courteous to bikers and pedestrians, in Vancouver you have to be that way.
