I wish they would just sell it, they've been sitting on that building for 5 years and nothing has happened, horrible for that corner.

yeah its ridiculous and there hasn't been a clear explanation for why they have failed to get this off the ground. After all of that now they are going to start a new battle with the unions which will lead to more delays

Overall height is unchanged (unless you count those AC units). The creme colored wall/section in the lower middle of the roof was there before the remodel but the rest of the roof was at the height of the door in that section so now there's more roof at the peak height (but overall roof height is unchanged).

The new section going in is supposed to be a roof top terrace and lounge for residents (not sure if pool or not).

I second that statement. Clarke's mind seems to be stuck in a time when Philadelphia was still declining in population and job growth, crime was through the roof, and there was talk about the city becoming irrelevant. Now, the city is growing and adding jobs at a faster rate than peer cities, there is a renewed interest in living in Philly, and space is increasingly coming at a premium because of the resulting demand. His assessment of who the "problem" is is pretty laughable. I'd say that, as a general rule, that honor goes to City Council and its fearless leader.

Just need term limits - being a politician should be a service to your fellow man - not a "career" where you can leach benefits for 30+ years from the public trough. All the while bringing stagnant and uninspired ideas.

Millenials need to start pushing for this - how do we get a term limit referendum on the ballot?

People should probably read the planphilly article before commenting. I know that's a lot of work, but it would make the comments more relevant. There is probably no shot that what he proposed will be enacted as presented. And this is not a major issue in most of the city regardless of what Clarke or his opponents claim. I will say that the charging for street parking idea proposed by the anti-car people quoted in the PlanPhilly article is a nonstarter. You talk about starting a revolt and mass exodus to the burbs....

the only winners are blatstein and Police brass who live in the NE and didn't want to drive to west philly. That's about it. Unlike 4601 market this building eventually could have attracted a private use.

Great description of Blatstein's history as a developer in Philly. Maybe in AC he is actually having to try a different method.

RFP has gone out from the city to developers for the building (and parking lot) at Broad and Lombard. They are requesting high density, mixed-use proposals. They will decide on finalists in September, and the winner by the end of the year.
