My favorite project going up right now. The idea of building along the curve of the L and so close is so ironic. Consideri that for decades the L was ridiculed for being built on the cheap right up against buildings and in alleys and that now buildings are being built to showcase the ancient structure. This is a kind of urban density that is transforming the city.

^^^Any glass samples for the curved building yet? Will it just be the same glass as the apartment building next door? Also when are they planning on re-painting the el supports, they had that in the original drawings with new lighting.

^ Agree, it's the parking lot that's so damn atrocious, I don't mind the actual McD's itself.

Hopefully with their headquarters downtown, McD's executives will look at this property far more closely and come to the same conclusion as many of us have.

Nope. New York, Chicago and Philly are really the only American cities with structures comparable to each other. Boston used to, but not anymore. Miami has some elevated rail running trainsets similar to Chicago's but it's all modern concrete without the same character. Cleveland and Baltimore have rolling stock similar to Chicago but any elevated stations don't look anything like New York or Chicago. And that pretty much applies to all the other elevated portions of rail in the U.S. especially since their trainsets don't look anything like Chicago's.

McDonald's should build this out into a museum of some sorts. It is truly absurd that they have left this as a parking lot in this location.

The BP Also has to go. These two parcels are really screwing up the boom in River North.

I said it before, I'll say it again. That should be the one McDonalds location in the world that you can order any item off of any McDonalds menu, anywhere. If you want some weird Japanese burger, you can get it. If you want whatever gets substituted in India for the cheeseburger, you can get it. You want the lobster roll from some Maine McDonalds, you should get it.

That would be worthy.

I see the hotel proposed for the site on the southern end of this block is included in the render. Last I saw, some legal issue had that project stalled. Anyone know new info?

Walked by 1136 S Wabash tonight and noticed signage on the scaffolding with a name for the building (Eleven40) and a website. Looks like the address is going to be 1140 S Wabash.

There is a slideshow on the website with a bunch of renderings. A lot of them we have probably already seen but I think there's some new ones showing the rooftop.
