New project for Montreal's hip Mile-Ex neighbourhood. I like the design, but I'm saddened they will tear down this post-deco little gem.

^Thought I recognized that building - was at a nice brewpub down the street last time I was in Mtl. Shame they aren't keeping it and just building behind - the new proposal is quite wide as it is.

We haven't really changed have we? The building needs lots of help but, the potential is there. The same can be attributed to the block busting in the 1960s and 1970s. People just saw decrepit, dirty buildings.

I've been sad to see a lot of little 1940/50s-era brick buildings like that bite the dust in this boom. Not quite old enough to be appreciated, not new enough to meet modern needs & land values. But nonetheless well-built, nicely scaled buildings that add solid, earthy texture to the city - I'm sure they'll be missed when they're all gone!

I wonder if the goldy/bronzey colourway in that render is accurate? Could be interesting.

Interesting. The wavy balcony thing has definitely been overdone but this looks elegant and cool. And is that gold glass I see?

It would suck if they tore down that nice corner building in Montreal...a great little building that says "Built for an established urban setting". The proposal itself is alright..

That St. Clair proposal looks unimpressive IMO...the top seems really weird with the massive balconies going on. I get it's curvy and "cool" but I don't feel good with that render at all.

Vaughan proposal is a ripoff of the 40 Widmer Street POS in Toronto's core.

That Vaughan proposal has been around for years btw. Probably 2013 or 2014, maybe they are moving to marketing? What makes it interesting is each tower is a different developer, but the designs are the same.

The Vaughan proposal does say "Coming Soon" on the Gold Park website...


The 1421 Yonge proposal was at the OMB last I heard, is this what came out of it? 36 floors? At least it will still be the tallest in the area, and should be about 110 - 120 metres or so. That 3rd pic makes it seem as if it's twice as tall as the Weston Centre. If so, it would be far taller...

My comment was geared towards the quality of the designs, and the construction of the towers, arena and other buildings built lately. Not that good, and in some cases rather poor.

i wish edmonton would stop the skyscraper fetish....it needs 20 low rise projects instead....even when all the towers are done it will be sterile....so much building but is it the right kind of building?...what kind of city is being created?
