I can live with that.

No qualifying offer for Yakupov from STL so he's now a UFA. I think he's either going back to Russia, or sign up wherever Galchenyuk ends up playing (assuming the Habs trade him).

I'm thinking Vegas will give him a chance. He has stated that he wants to stay in the NHL, and Vegas will give him the best chance to be on one of the top two lines.

Sad announcement from the Oilers this morning:

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Oilers legend Dave Semenko after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Dave will be remembered as a fierce competitor, loyal teammate, fan favourite and dear friend to so many. His legendary toughness on the ice is surpassed only by his kindness and caring for others, and his equally legendary wit and sense of humour.

Our hearts go out to Dave's family and many friends.

Once an Oiler, Always an Oiler

Benoit Pouliot is getting bought out. Another bad signing by MacT is off the team.

Good call on this. I was a fan when he was playing mean.

Only downside is the 1.3M cap hit we will have on the books for the next four years.

Cap hit taken goes to show how bad it was to get any team to take him from Oil's hands.

Agreed, it will be nice to save the 2.6 over the next 2 seasons, but I'm guessing a replacement will cost 1.0-2.0 whether it is an existing player or if someone new, so we're not saving too much cap wise. Probably the best to have him off the team, should result in fewer PK's.

^ Or to Draisaitl. How much to pay him, or if they should match any offer sheets seems to be the big debate among pundits and armchair GMs the last couple of days.

TSN is reporting that the Oilers have signed Ty Rattie
Sam Gagner signs with Vancouver, and with Kassian here in Edmonton the irony of this is all too awesome!
Benoit Pouliot signs a 1 yr deal with Buffalo.
Pitlick signs 3 year with Dallas.
Oesterle signs with Chicago.
