Simple. A huge part of sports fandom is conditioning and Americans are way better at that than Canadians.

They didn't need the world's greatest volleyball gym for the Pan Am Games.

^^ I don't mean it to be disparaging, just that University of Manitoba would probably have built the gymnasium whether or not it got the PanAm games anyway or not..
..either that or Saskatoon is building similar sports facilities to host PanAm equivalent games itself

You're probably right, the gym that the Pan Am Games one replaced (Bison East Gym) was pretty dilapidated and poorly maintained. A new one was going to have to be built anyway. The Pan Am Games were a good way to get that accomplished.

That said, I'm sure Saskatoon's gym is definitely Pan Am Games calibre... after all, Toronto used what appears to be a convention hall with temporary seating set up for its volleyball event. So if that passed muster, I'm sure the gym at U. Sask. would too.

A reminder, before the prairie folks get too cocky (Note: I'm not from Toronto):

^ Based on that, the only two things that Toronto really has on Edmonton are a MLB stadium and a tennis stadium. Commonwealth does the job of BMO and York and is far better than either, and Edmonton's #1 and 2 rinks (Rogers/Northlands) are better than their Toronto equivalents. Admittedly Toronto's lead is much wider over the other prairie cities.

I could go on too Calgary (although ageing) and Winnipeg also have some impressive and Sports infrastructure relative to population. Regina and saskatoon as well, Not sure what youre bragging about.

P.s. Nobody cares nore is jelous/envious of your silly tennis facility, even if you get to watch bouchard run around in those little shorts

Bunch of stupid teens have taking over.

This one definitely needs explanation. Rogers is the replacement for Northlands. Northlands will eventually be demolished.

I really don't get what the argument is.

Toronto's supposed to build more stadiums and arenas for teams that either don't exist or don't need them? Someone please explain.

If it's all about dick-measuring, then why aren't you comparing the number of pro teams each city has instead?

Don't confuse them. Let them believe the number of spectator sports facilities is based on population than the number of sports teams. Edmonton will keep both NHL rinks because they are so god damn great.

Funny how this only became the issue once Oilkountry annihilated FFX-ME's line of argument.

Not necessarily, and as of right now it serves a concert/sports venue in the city of Edmonton

For the time being, Northlands Coliseum is still in business with no plans to shut it down as yet. There was just an announcement recently about Davis Cup matches being scheduled there, so there you go... Edmonton's tennis venue
