Landscaping won't help much either because the source of all of this mud is a very large and unstable area on the mountainside to the south of the highway - Google Maps satellite view, about 1.5km long by 500 meters wide.
I don't know if it would be possible, but I've always thought that a specially built viaduct could be built in this section to allow the debris flow to pass through and avoid causing the highway to close.

Calgary - Glenmore Trail/Ogden Rd/24th St Interchange

I've been working on documenting the three major interchange construction areas here in Calgary. Glenmore Trail is a major E-W expressway that is heavy with truck traffic. The new roadway also crosses two rail lines (one the CP Main Line), an irrigation canal and the future SE LRT (Green Line) alignment. The project is set to finish late this year.

Shot are from my phone. DSLR was to heavy to carry.
Was raining the day before and the snow level dropped below 2000 meters.

Temp at the summit was 6C and the valley bottom was 17C

Here are some shot of Highway 40 to the Highwood Pass. The Highest Public Road in the country. The Pass is closed for the winter but opens Mid June. This was the last weekend to ride the pass without cars or RVs. This is a bucket list ride for riders here. My second time up. average grade is 6-7%. however the last 2km of the ride back jumped up to 9%.

This ride started at the Kananaski Village. which is about 31km from the gate. total round trip was 95kms.

Not sure if this has been posted here or not... or if it hasn't been posted in a while. But Regina, SK is building a 1.88B Bypass.

There will be a new video uploaded soon, but thought I'd post a little something about it.

Eastern portion from Balgonie to Highway 33 (Arcole Ave) will be opening in the fall. Remainder to open in 2019.

I wonder what all the highway numbers will be? How I would assign them:

Highway 1: Follows the new southern bypass from Tower Road to Pinkie Junction. When the initial section opens to Arcola Avenue, it should only be signed with trailblazers ("TO 1" and "TO 33") until the full completion in 2019.

Highway 1A: Follows the current Highway 1 with one exception: it follows Victoria, Albert, Saskatchewan Drive and Lewvan instead of the Ring Road (to serve downtown).

Highway 11: Follows the new western bypass north of Pinkie Junction (to ensure that the main north-south and main east-west highways have a common junction).

Highway 50: New designation for the current Ring Road and northern approach, basically what is now 11 and 1 through Regina (except for Victoria Avenue). The section west of Lewvan is co-signed as 1A/50. Chosen as the lowest number not in use.

Hi Craner,

Saskatoon is also working out their route as well... See here.

http://thestarphoenix.com/business/local-business/meet-the-2b-saskatoon-freeway-proposal

IMO Saskatoon needs it more than Regina, but hey I'll take that we are getting one. It is really moving fast! If the weather holds up like it has we MAY get done sooner than expected.

Yea naming is something that hasn't been talked about much that I have heard. But IMO I would like it to be something like One-Eleven (111) or "Triple-One" bypass or the "Green Way"

As it connects the #1 and #11 highways.

Calgary - Macleod Trail-162nd Ave/Sun Valley Interchange

Construction continues on Calgary's first Diverging Diamond interchange in the "Deep South" of the city.

Should be complete in the late fall.

I am quite excited that the Regina Bypass has one of these being built with it east of Regina at pilot butte access! We have that and one interchange with roundabouts!

New video !

This time, I am featuring the Autoroute 740 in Québec City in both directions.

It is a short Urban Freeway Linking Upper Town & Lower Town in the middle of the City.

Enjoy !

The 100-series highways are usually a lower-tiered, northern route of its 2di parent route (i.e. Hwy 102 & Hwy 2). With 200-series being park access routes and 300-series functioning as secondary highways, that leaves an unused 400-series.

So...what about the entire Regina Bypass becoming Hwy 401? The present city routes could retain their current designations. The future Saskatoon perimeter highway (http://www.highways.gov.sk.ca/Saskatoon_Freeway) could become Hwy 416.

Well alberta's numbering for theirs are 201 and 216. By that logic it would be 111 and 1116. So really hard to tell. I like the 401 and 416 idea though.

No as far as I know the sprawling York-Bay-Yonge ramp is being replaced by a (somewhat steep), wider ramp to Lower Simcoe Street. You can then access York, Bay and Yonge streets via this ramp via a widened Harbour street.

Between Jarvis Street and the Don Valley Parkway, the 8 lane Gardiner will be demolished and replaced by a new 4 lane highway north of it's current location. That will free up the water front. The width reduction shouldn't matter much since the highway is overbuilt here anyway (was originally designed to connect to the cancelled Scarborough Expressway).

Another great video from the Master. I drove this route numerous times last summer, when staying in the Beaupre/QC region.

Pretty sure that the teradown plan was abandoned.

Was driving the 401 last week between Kingston and Toronto and saw the updated monument sign for Napanee. I didn't get a picture this time, but they've updated their town slogan. Good job guys. This'll show those so-and-so's in Okotoks.
