I'm not talking about the esthetics or how flashy it should be. I think it's a shame to spend all the time and money on retrofitting a building which just seems small. For the location I would've hoped for more square footage.
This is my main beef. It's such low density for having large frontage on Main St. and by not doing any alteration to the original structure it is still quite imposing and heavy as you walk by. Not the type of vibrant and open type of building you would want fronting on main st. especially for the vibe the area strives for. If they at least put a restaurant, cafe or retail space at the front sidewalk level with larger windows behind the new facade it would look more acceptable.
If the coloured facade is strictly for Hootsuite or another tech company, if they move (which growing companies tend to do) it would likely be removed for the next tenant. Then it's all grey boxes...

I'm sure they will max out the density on the site, this is just one parcel of the site so they can land other larger buildings elsewhere and demo/rebuild this one in a decade or so when/if they need even more space.
This may even just be to move the current Hootsuite office on the site over to this building, allowing them to build the tower in the place of the current office.

I don't see any other OV buildings nicer than this. It's not a Pinnacle thing: it's how everyone is trying to fit into the mold or criteria set from the restrictions and City OCP. Same thing for the Cambie corridor buildings. For its location and potential, OV is turning out to be a pretty boring looking neighbourhood.
Still part of "The Creek" project by Concert Properties. This side of the property consists of Buildings 3 and 4. A future triangular-shaped park (yes, yet another one) is coming up at the storage area.

I posted this to highlight the continuing trend of oversized address markings. I'm not sure if I like them or not. This one is a bit weird since the address listing East 1st is actually half way up the block on Quebec.
