Other than capacity, NMS has very little in common with IGF.

Yeah, other than being two 33,000 seat CFL stadiums with artificial turf, partial overhead coverage and similar seating configurations, they have absolutely nothing in common.

Agreed, personally I would give the NMS a 5.5 or 6/10. As far as new stadiums go it's pretty bare bones and unimaginative and the green and white exterior just looks cheap. Also why for an open air stadium didn't they install real grass? The roof is nice all be it a a watered down version of what could have been.

The seating configuration is not similar. All football stadiums in Canada have artificial turf. Nothing about NMS & IGF's roofs are similar.

More like a 4. BMO looks like the offspring of IGF and THF.

I will say though, BMO has a damn fine field. The natural grass they manage to keep makes me wonder why the rest of the CFL stadiums can't pull something like that off.

Stadiums like NMS, IGF, look NFL worthy
& Commonwealth & BC Place are basically NFL ready with their capacity.. Someday when Calgary gets new stadium, I'm hoping for similar achievement and not skimping like eastern club's stadiums.. Maybe even a jewel-in-crown type of stadium of CFL clubs making a fully complete set for the West.

NMS 9/10
IGF 8/10
BC Place 8/10
Commonwealth 7/10

rest of the stadiums in CFL are at (TD Place) or below 5/10 satisfactory sadly

IGF's roof is a value engineered vestige of the original vision. I don't see the same with NMS.

As to BMO's exterior? It's still a Frankenstein. Roger's Centre? I realize some see exposed cast in place as unfinished and needing to be covered but, I'm not one of them. It's far from great but, I definitely prefer the concrete and blue curtain glass over the metal siding on New Mosaic.

If you want to judge stadiums by their NFL-worthiness then BC Place, Commonwealth and Olympic Stadium were basically NFL stadiums by the standards of their time. They would have fit right into the NFL of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Exhibition Stadium would have been considered NFL-calibre by late 1970s standards too, but only as a stop-gap sort-of-multipurpose venue like the old Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, MN.

IGF and NMS are great stadiums and certainly have a lot of the NFL razzle dazzle built in, but they only have about half the seating capacity of new NFL stadiums. They are much smaller.

But you do touch on an interesting point, there's no question that there is a big gap emerging between the east and west. The four best stadiums in the league are all in western Canada... Calgary is the only outlier in the west.

And three of the four CFL clubs in the east have more or less "new" stadiums, so there won't be much new money invested in their facilities for a while.

Come on, none are even close. And BC place while looking very nice these days is way too small to host an NFL Team.

CFL stadiums are all sub par compared to almost every NFL stadium. And why wouldn't they be? Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan took home $42 million last year, enough to cover the salaries of every CFL player. One is a major league sport in every way the other is a small market league that can barely pay for any decent talent. CFL stadiums are tiny compared to almost every NFL stadium as well. 33,000 seats is nothing. All but 2 stadiums hold less then 61,000 fans.

I've been a Bomber fan since Mack Herron and Don Jonas and loathe everything green. I even hate the environment because of them. But I can't lie. It is a beautiful stadium.

I agree.

NMS is the Honda to IGF's Kia/Hyundai.

Both great facilities and the features are the same or similar - but the fit an finish, and overall build quality on NMS is an obvious step up.

What is it that constitutes a step up? When I'm looking at pics of NMS and IGF I'm just not seeing much of an overall difference. The only way they could have built a more similar stadium is if some Rider staffer had broken into Ray Wan's office and stolen the blueprints.

The pictures of the NFL stadiums that TorontoDrew posted, well, with those I can see a clear and massive difference. No question there. But with NMS and IGF?
