^Steelwork has been added to frame the new facades in the former Kmart section. New corner storefronts will extend all the way to the street.

Gallery II is pretty much stripped....
Gallary II update June 7, 1017 by tehshadowbat, on Flickr

....but the large "sculpture" is still there!

New opening in the 1000 block with an old space being covered in the foreground....

Along Filbert Street. I was hoping that the second floor facade would be removed, but I guess not. (note the new steel)

Failure to remove the facade more broadly except on the initial floors is disappointing. But not unanticipated. The renders indicated it. The health partners building with only the 1 floor of siding removal on Filbert is actually the least egregious of the lot. The paneling on the other two buildings looks really bad. If they actually add residential to these two buildings as suggested, I hope they complete the recladding then. But I tend to doubt it.

I hope they slap up as many electronic billboards as possible to cover that egregious facade.

I never thought I'd be in favor of MORE billboards.

Developer eyes huge mixed-use project for South Philly

Quote:
A developer that already owns a large swath of land in South Philly has plans to transform it into a 1,000,000-square-foot mixed-use development that’s being marketed as a new neighborhood called South Quarter Crossing.

Cedar Realty Trust, which owns the Quartermaster Plaza and South Philadelphia Shopping Center on the edge of the Girard Estates neighborhood, said it has started pre-leasing efforts for its planned project, reports the Inquirer.

Indeed, the developer’s website has a pretty lengthy marketing brochure available that’s chockfull of renderings and information on the proposed project. Some key stats:

-1 million square feet total
-About 800,000-square-feet of retail, 155,600 of which is currently available for lease
-210 residential units; 75 units in one five-story building and another 135 units in a separate five-story building
-3,402 parking spaces, a mix of surface and below-grade
-26,600 square feet of office lofts in one building next to residential

Yeah i'd be OK with it if they give it a clean coat of paint (maybe a light gray). The dirty, grimy white is what's killing it. I mean, the new Scannapieco tower is covered all over in gray, metal panels not too dissimilar from this. Those just look fresh, clean, and new.

I believe the entire thing is being built at once.

Groundhog, I love this: "You must construct additional pylons."

StarCraft is my all-time favorite video game.

Haha, thanks, me too! I spent many a late night playing that game back in the day. I don't know why that line popped in my head the other day but I figured it was relevant enough to throw in the signature. Glad you got a kick out of it.

^^Damn...we've all wanted development there so bad... really wish it could've been a high rise. Maybe across the street...

Anyways, Logan Square mansions are adding more:

These look really good. My only gripe is that the open railing on the rooftop terrace should not have been allowed. It should be a solid parapet. It would have looked a lot better.

Did you mean to include a link to an article? Do you have more info to share....? You have arrows pointing up but I don't see anything on this page related to Logan Square. Maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Though still in the early stages, plans call for dedicating 75,000 square feet of the building for this concept. It would house co-working space, a high-end gym, a hotel and a restaurant or dining club without a round of golf. A lease is in the works with an operator though it won’t be firmed up for a few more months.

...

There are several urban country club operators and which one the developer of 2400 Market St. — a partnership of Lubert-Adler and PMC Property Group — is working with couldn’t be determined. Soho House is one that is in expansion mode. Formed in London in 1995, the club has 18 locations around the world and is backed by Ron Burkle. NeueHouse is another one but is so far concentrated on the West Coast. The Arts Club and Golf & Body NYC is an adaptation of one but does have golf as one of its main themes.

Benjamin’s Desk, a regional co-working operator, is exploring a version of this. It leased 17,000 square feet at the Studebaker building at 667 N. Broad St. and will transform it into what Anthony Maher, co-founder of Benjamin’s Desk, described in an interview as a contemporary “Union League for entrepreneurs.”
