Seems pretty standard to me.
As for what the Riders did, they went with a "founding sponsors" list. Mosaic, the naming rights owner, is on it along with Molson Coors (Pil Country). Then there are a bunch of local-ish companies all with naming/branding on various parts of the stadium. In a lot of ways it's a continuation of how things were at the old stadium, but with a few additions.
The Riders put nearly $50 mill into the stadium though, so it makes sense to get as much sponsorship as possible right off the hop. Sort of an an alternative to the "seat licence" practice that is done elsewhere.
Other than the centre logo, everything is also basically completely green and white, so overall, it keeps it a pretty cohesive look. (Other exceptions I can think of are a sign beside the smaller North video screen, and the Saktel/city logos on the much larger South screen).
