Fantastic view of Scarberia; townhouses subdivisions next to warehouses and heavy industry. I see something weird. Maybe it's ugly thread worthy

There is no heavy industry left in Scarborough. You should visit sometime in order to validate your opinion of what you call the suburbs.

Maybe you should confirm what you believe before opening your mouth. This is taking from a condo in Scarborough Centre. The townhouses in question are a redevelopment of a former industrial site at Midland and Ellesmere. The entire area is still mostly industrial including a big ass, dirty as hell, paper plant a hop, skip and jump at Progress and Midland.

The hilarity is I don't have a problem with heavy industry in Scarborough. I just have a problem with its piecemeal planning.

Looks like there's an emerging skyscraper boom in Montreal. Any particular reasons for this? Cool to see.

I was gonna say Atlantic paper... you can smell it from the RT station!

That whole area is a bad example of encroachment of sensitive uses on employment areas. The City is finally on top of it (recent OPA conforming with the PPS IIRC) but there are a lot of shitty developments encroaching on industrial land .

Who knew that one day we'd need zoning to prevent residential from encroaching on heavy industry, rather than the other way around?

This is a neat shot. That blimp looks like it's on it's way to being moored at the CN Tower mast.

It's being going on for at least 50 years in Toronto and very strong for the last 25. It shouldn't surprise anyone about the growing concern with losing employment lands to residential.

It's also a townhouse development next to the RT Station. It should have included a mix of uses and housing options. Sure the station is planned to close but, was that even known when the zoning was approved?
