If lilwayne is on the verge of giving up hope then this project is dead in the water. And this is not to be condescending LW as you truly have been its biggest optimist. But when the bright eyed optimists start to jump ship the rats aren't far behind.

I'll be happy as long as 300 main is built at this point and we hear some news regarding Sutton at TNS.
Really, as much as I think we all would like to see this built, I wouldn't doubt if there's something just as good in the works by a reputable company that hasn't even been announced yet.

You would have to think that any good development company out there is watching this situation unfold. What I mean is they have likely sold close to 200 units at this location. Albeit I am sure a lot of those units were sold on the premise that this will be the tallest building in the city at almost 600 ft, but if that many units can be sold on a project that folds there is likely opportunity to swoop in and claim a large bunch with a well run, more moderately sized project.

I would still love to see a 150 unit project at this site almost as much.....although I really want to see 575 ft in this city.

^ Even a more modest Heritage Landing-scale building would still a) eliminate one of the most unsightly swaths of surface parking downtown, and b) help establish a critical mass of residents on and around Graham Avenue. If SkyCity can't get built as promised, then a 20-25 storey condo building would be a great consolation prize.

He also said some derogatory comments about the only female Jetsowner member, who he was trying to court, after learning that she recently became engaged. Incidentally, BT still posted about the Jets on the WFP as "Commander1" and did make an appearance on the Jets Hockey Forum as "slippy" in 2012, until he was outed by members who recognized his distinct writing style.

lol...yeah I never understood why he could not admit to being wrong.

Absolutely. I first found out about the site in 2004, and the forum in 2005. It was great to share idea with the other "dreamers" since at work or with friends, I was considered nuts for even suggesting the jets would one day return.

That happened I beleive in late 2007, IIRC. Appearantly, Mr.Ford claimed that he had dinner one night with Chipman, and he was given some semi-confidental information about a plan to bring back a team to Winnipeg, or so he claims. Unsure if it can be verified, but Ford did receive a "Jetsowner" plaque from True North after the team was purchased, so who knows?

The move to close the site, and try and force people to move to register for the Free Press site was against everything Ford had said since 2005. He would often post blogs about how not to trust or listen to the MSM, yet at first offer, he accepts the WFP deal, and kills off Jetsowner, in spite of some long time members pleading with him to leave it open, and even offers to purchase the site off him.

Most members eventually migrated to the Jets Hockey Forum, and the rest is history. Although Ford even spammed the site, directing old members of his forum to the WFP site, and picking fights with detractors. It was a gong show. It was obvious that the WFP and Ford had been incorrect in their assumption that all posters would follow him to the WFP site, and it never gained much popularity.

It's kind of sad, really since Ford would and still is, welcome to join and post, and it would be great to see him post on the JHF. It is what it is, I guess. Anyway, JHF is still alive and well after nearly six years. It's much like the Jetsowner Forum.
I was recruited to JHF from the beginning and left after several disputes. One of the mods was heavily religious and allowed far too much homophobia to stand.

Morning Big Blue is the best Bombers forum out there and has a heck of a Jets sub-forum as well. Quite active and the mods are very fair and patient.

I enjoy your positivity about this project. Mostly because it makes me think 'well, if Lil is so sure its happening, maybe it actually will'.

Oh man, Blackthorne... that brings back some memories. Wasn't he the one who wanted the Moose to die because he saw them as an obstacle to the return of the NHL? Which was ridiculous because without TNSE and the Moose, there never would have been the return of the Jets.

And now the Moose and Jets are coexisting quite well.

^Ya that's ridiculous. An AHL team is basically the whipping boy. Whatever you want them to do, be it move, die, stay, they'll do it. Especially when you own both teams. Ridiculous.

I stay off all other web forums except for this one. I can tolerate you folks! Sports forum are a joke. I've unfollowed most of the local sports pages on Twitter as well. Just stupid and depressing. Trolls are the worst and ruin it for everyone.

Anyways, back to SkyCity. What are we waiting for at this point? Deadlines have come and gone, nothing been said recently except about all the legal stuff.

I know someone who was looking to host a festival/event in the SkyCity parking lot and was told by the city they would be unable to use it as the St. Regis is coming down in July/Aug and it would be dangerous to have it that close to a demolition site. So the city at least has some confidence this may happen.

I doubt that'll happen. My pessimism has grown recently, as it seems everyone else has as well..

Pretty much this. I mean, if they were really at 50%+ sales locked up, they'd be moving ahead with the construction plans. There is no evidence of that at all. Seems to me that they're moving into the stage that Capital Pointe has been in for years where they just put on a show to try to convince people that the project is still alive.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we ended up with a demolished St. Regis and a pit dug, but at the rate things are going that's about as far as I think it'll get.

The pit in downtown Regina just keeps getting deeper and deeper with no end in sight, pity the city of Regina when they eventually have to refill it!

Again, I have zero stake in this project. This just came across Twitter. Something to read:

Those returns are questionable as there are never any reports qualifying those returns...just ask one of their brokers for audited performance reports...you get nothing or unheard of.

That press release is hilarious.

Quote:
Building and Development Mortgages Canada Inc. (BDMC) announced today that lenders in a syndicate mortgage that funded Brant Park, a Lamb Development Corp. (Lamb) and Fortress Real Developments Inc. (Fortress) condominium apartment project in downtown Toronto, received their principal back in full and an estimated annualized return of 8.12%.
Who is this BDMC company that is making this announcement though? It must be some legitimate 3rd party right? Nope...it's Fortress.

Quote:
The mortgages are registered on title against the property by BDMC (Building Development and Mortgages Canada, Inc.), where Fortress chief operating officer Vince Petrozza is a licensed broker.
https://www.thestar.com/business/2016/04/29/the-high-risk-world-of-syndicated-mortgages.html

Not to mention they even use the exact same address in Richmond Hill as Fortress.
