lol...yeah I never understood why he could not admit to being wrong.
Absolutely. I first found out about the site in 2004, and the forum in 2005. It was great to share idea with the other "dreamers" since at work or with friends, I was considered nuts for even suggesting the jets would one day return.
That happened I beleive in late 2007, IIRC. Appearantly, Mr.Ford claimed that he had dinner one night with Chipman, and he was given some semi-confidental information about a plan to bring back a team to Winnipeg, or so he claims. Unsure if it can be verified, but Ford did receive a "Jetsowner" plaque from True North after the team was purchased, so who knows?
The move to close the site, and try and force people to move to register for the Free Press site was against everything Ford had said since 2005. He would often post blogs about how not to trust or listen to the MSM, yet at first offer, he accepts the WFP deal, and kills off Jetsowner, in spite of some long time members pleading with him to leave it open, and even offers to purchase the site off him.
Most members eventually migrated to the Jets Hockey Forum, and the rest is history. Although Ford even spammed the site, directing old members of his forum to the WFP site, and picking fights with detractors. It was a gong show. It was obvious that the WFP and Ford had been incorrect in their assumption that all posters would follow him to the WFP site, and it never gained much popularity.
It's kind of sad, really since Ford would and still is, welcome to join and post, and it would be great to see him post on the JHF. It is what it is, I guess. Anyway, JHF is still alive and well after nearly six years. It's much like the Jetsowner Forum.
