Unless I'm look at it wrong, it looks like whatever this is is built over the Tom Hendry Warehouse theatre.

Oh yeah, good catch. I wonder if this is a "new" RMTC Warehouse? Combined with a parkade? Weird.

Is any of that real? There's the pump station which is not accurate. The James parkade looking thing, maybe its not a parkade. The site beside Pantages, then the site at James and Lily. Looks nice having those lots all filled in!

Looks to my eyes like science gallery along the Main Street frontage, with the parkade on the eastern (Martha St.) end? Looks pretty good if you ask me. I'm guessing that's the "other" parkade on James Avenue as well? I'd just like to know what the new building on Market is supposed to be. If MCCC manages to get this concept realized, there wouldn't be many vacant/surface parking lots left in the vicinity of the museum and concert hall.

i would say the museum wants to move mtc wearhouse so mtc is looking at adding an addition where their parking lot is to make up for this

Ah, OK... so that explains the Public City rendering for the site next to RMTC. What is it that appears planned for the current RMTC site, then? That building on that site as shown on the area map looks too grandiose to be a parkade.

I am way over-analyzing this but if you look closely at the dark grey on that building where Warehouse Theatre is it looks like a glass wall on the upper level as you can see reflections in it from other parts of the rendering. Seems like it'd be a pretty fancy looking parkade.

Interesting that other than the science museum this is the only other new building on this area map that has a lot of detail in it. Everything else is just shaded grey boxes.

Fortune Block

The scaffolding is still up but the green wrap has mostly come down and she looks beautiful!
Brick is all cleaned up, new windows.
Hopefully there are some aesthetic adjustments made to the exterior of the Times Change unit to spiff it up a bit (or a lot).

Remember guys, these renderings are of "what could be". Public City Architecture is doing a Master Planning blueprint for the Centennial Centre Campus. Nothing you see is actually designed or in design - just placeholders.

........sorry for the bucket of cold water. It would be awesome though and hopefully there is the desire to pursue most, or all of the conceptual ideas here.

As far as I can tell there are 4 totally new buildings that don't currently exist shown on that plan:

1. Parkade/science centre
2. New building west of RMTC
3. New building east of the museum's Nonsuch Gallery
4. New (presumably condo) building at Lily and James

It sounds like #1 is likely to begin soon. #4 depends on market conditions but even if it doesn't happen in the next year or two, it'll likely materialize eventually.

The real questions are #2 and #3. I'm still not sure what #3 is supposed to be, but if that's the big residential parkade for the East Exchange, then I can't imagine that it's that far off... it will likely have to get built in the next decade to sustain the residential development taking place around there. And if the plan is for it to take up the land that the RMTC Warehouse sits on, then I would think #2 would have to be part of the plan although that's probably not likely to happen in the next few years.

I'm curious as to whether #3 is just a parkade or if there's more to it... it looks too substantial to be a parkade only.

Makes sense. I like they way they're thinking though!

Yes, I agree... up until somewhat recently, the Centennial Centre was cut off from its surrounding area. But as the East Exchange continues to grow and develop, there is an opportunity for better integration. I'm glad that MCCC is looking at the precinct as a whole through this planning exercise.... I can't wait to see the final results.

i saw it this AM too and i agree they've done a nice job. still about 1/2 the windows facing Main need replacing. having all the brick the same colour looks great all cleaned up and the the highlight 'red' bricks look nice.

Can't remember if it was mentioned elsewhere, but I was in 201 Portage today and noticed that work is fully underway on the basement food court area. All of the basement shops are closed at the moment, but there are a couple of coolers set up in the main floor lobby providing emergency sushi and Coke Zero rations to nearby office workers.

Also, any word lately about the new building pitched for the Bodegoes site by Old Market Square?

In completely unrelated news, I noticed temp. drywall went up around the old florist in Winnipeg Square this week and banging going on the other side. Seems like something going in there.

I so agree.
After all the hoop-la, I sure hope that there will be some parapet or cornice relief for the top edging. That would finish it off. I understand the goal will be to have large awnings to recreate the look of the early 1880's when it was built.
I also hope on the adjoining parking lot some nice cafe / patio or attractive infill building will nicely compliment these buildings and the soon to be renovated Winnipeg Hotel.

City asks for input on future of Alexander Docks site

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/winnipeg-alexander-dock-1.4142641

I hope that whatever ends up being built in its place adds to the growing vibrancy of the area.
It would be cool to see the River Rouge and Paddlewheel Queen implemented into the future site and turned into one of those museum/restaurant/hotel ships like the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. If there's little hope for riverboats on our rivers again we might as well try to save the last ones, cause the marine museum up in Selkirk seems to be tight for space.
