It gives a better sense of the future vision and density of the Brentwood area. Wow.
They have added a whole bunch of non-existent towers in that image. It's disingenuous to show condo towers all over the Carter properties as well as all throughout the small side streets. It might take 30-40 years for that to be an accurate representation.

Not really... That's pretty common for things like neighbourhood plans.

If someone is dumb enough to not know that a hundred buildings in a photo are architectural renderings for scale, then they get what they deserve. Research a neighbourhood before you buy

I believe there are also some errors in the streets. The last time I looked, the city plan was for Douglas to dead-end on the south side of Lougheed, and for Buchanan to dead-end at Willingdon (those streets currently have turning circles at those points). The road going through from the mall to Fairlawn also looks funny. That's currently a back alley with a pedestrian passage through to the mall.

That image was part of the Amazing Brentwood video last year, but good to see a high-resolution image of it. The whole image is recreated and has no real buildings in it. Even existing buildings are replaced with dummy ones.

What is impressive is that half of these towers are already introduced, so as we can see, there is quite a Town Centre in making and in such a short time. Living in Metrotown I am slightly envious about the bigger ambitious shown by Brentwood.

And to the Linear Park, that's great to see them improving that area. I was actually hoping to see Willingdon going 3+3 lanes there in the future, but I guess not. At least it is remaining 2+2 lanes with left-turn bays. I am okay with that for that portion of Willingdon.

The alternative to that is what developers/marketers routinely love to do (see the marketing render images for Midori at Metrotown for example, or even the neighbouring Vittorio), which is to show their tower as if it's the only one in the area and not even showing any existing tower or even a depiction of any currently in construction or proposed, - which in turn gives the buyers the false impression that they'll have a clear view all around from their unit when the reality is they'll be backed up by neighbouring towers all around with the only views available being into someone else's unit in another building a couple of hundred feet away.

I agree that either way it's false marketing by but there's a little bit more truth in how they did it above since it's more than likely that that Carter Dealership will be gobbled up by some developer (if it hasn't already been) and towers will be occupying that site sooner rather than later down the road.

Seems pretty unlikely that Costco and relatively new Keg would be turned into towers any time soon...

Their rendering doesn't go down to that area....

So, I think the point of this image is to give people a sense of what the area may look and feel like in terms of density in 20-40 years from now based off of the Brentwood Land Use Map that the City of Burnaby designed with the re-zoned areas. This rendering simulates the re-zoning and densification graphed in that map.

Their first rendering used in the video didn't show the lumina/milano/fulton house/triomphe/escala towers, which are all under some form of development. It's nice for the Developer to show the bigger picture of the area, rather than just the 11 Brentwood towers completed in 15 years from now without showing any of the possible towers that may (or may not) be completed by then, or sometime after.

Anyone have any info/news regarding Juneau development proposed for the Brentwood area? Saw some CL postings for its pre-sale but other than that nothing much

Juneau development? Are you referring to the proposed highrise south of The Dawson by the same developer Amacon?

is there a thread ofr the burnaby city of lougheed?

I can't locate it. anyway someone asked if it is under construction.

I was there today I can report this. Last night there was a crane on site, I have no idea what it was doing, today it is not there. Today though the top level parking has been partially fenced off and there are some trailers up there on the west side.

They have paved the road that you use to access the mall site from north road. Gone are all the potholes, yay!

They have also fenced off the former bus loop in the SE corner and there are piles of stuff and equipment being parked in that area.

So it seems they are moving on something there.

Millennium Line better see a lot more extra trains soon, as it will be jam-packed when these towers start completing in couple of years...
