Just an interesting side note to the parking issue... I just got back from the Blue Cross Centre and I parked in the lot behind the building on Assomption Blvd. There was a sign inside saying that effective May 15/17 Blue Cross no longer validates parking in that lot. I asked them if the library still does and the person I spoke with said that she thinks that they still do. A company as large as Blue Cross can't validate a one dollar parking stub? Oh, I guess that's how they get bigger and bigger, especially when parking space is at a premium. Strange that the library can still afford to validate.

Use google earth to look at main street. It is essentially a line of buildings along each side of the street, behind which are acres and acres, literallly hundreds of acres, of surface parking within a 10- or 15-minute walk of the joint. More than 40% of the downtown is parking.
I'm an old man and i have heard people saying that there is no parking downtown for half a century. Funny thing, i go downtown a lot, i worked downtown for decades, i attend many events at the capital theatre, and i like my downtown beers. I have never had a problem parking downtown, even on the busiest nights of the year, even when main st. Is closed for things like the atlantic nationals. Not one time. Ever.
Now, maybe when 8,000 people come down for something at the events centre, there could be an issue finding nearby parking. I can see that being possible. But i'm not worried about it. God gave me two legs for more than just a place to put my ass at the top of them. Walking 5 or 15 minutes doesn't bother me, and when i get too old to walk, i can get dropped off at the curb while someone goes and parks.
Just my 2 cents cdn, and we all know how much that's worth.

Amen!!!

Has anyone else noticed that the camera outside of the arena has been stuck at night time for a few days now. Not sure what happened to it. The one indoors I couldn't tell if it stopped streaming as well..

Yeah, we've got some issues with the wireless bridges to that location or the power at the site itself. Work will resume on it Monday when we can get a crew out there.

Ah okay! I just hadn't noticed anyone mentioning anything so thought it might just be me, as my computer isn't the best!

Hopefully this morning. A tech is trying to trace the issue on-site as we speak.

Update: Due to having to source and replace some wireless gear, it's looking like early next week.

That would be the storm-water detention system. The front patio area is basically a huge drain system that can hold lots of water until it can be dribbled into the city sewer/storm water system.

Usually you see that as ponds on a site, so it can collect storm water from the parking lots and whatnot, and let it drain at a slower pace. Since there isn't room for a surface pond, they are basically building an underground pond that can hold the water as needed.

To be fair, I did double check the context of the question to make sure there wasn't also an onsite jail for rabble rousers until the police could cart them off, or something similar.
