Streetside does good work.

I always wondered about that name... like, who picked it? Streetside Developments, like, are there non-streetside developments? Was underwater developments taken?

Same with skip the dishes... who's skipping? I'm ordering for delivery and convenience, not for the joy of eating out of delivery containers at homes.

Nobody's skipping any dishes!

Wolf's thoughts of the day. Big fan of both companies though!

Skipping the dishes because, well, ya ain't needin' no dishes when ya order out, but sometimes you would, unless y'all use paper plates.

Streetside builds on the sides of streets, not under water LOL.

Oh, shocker.

Why bother with stunning infills like what we see being built in Halifax:

Go Winnipeg. Woo hoo!

Would that even meet energy code?

Not everything has to look the same. What Winnipeg needs is some variety. That's different than much of what we have.

It is disgusting using cheap siding in the Exchange. Pathetic.

Agreed.

I'm all for a mix of styles, would love lots of modern in the Exchange to contrast the old - but I do think it needs to be quality, above all else.

Is there not (/there should be) design rules and regulations, or more strict monitoring of buildings in the Exchange. As a National Historic Site - I think it'd be warranted.

I think that a few pieces of paneling make things hard to judge.

I use empty aluminium beer cans to extract the heat out of our free hot water. Heat is expensive.

There is this document:

http://www.historicplaces.ca/en/pages/standards-normes.aspx

The Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada is the first-ever pan-Canadian benchmark for heritage conservation practice in this country. It offers results-oriented guidance for sound decision-making when planning for, intervening on and using historic places. This document establishes a consistent, pan-Canadian set of conservation principles and guidelines that will be useful to anyone with an interest in conserving Canada's historic places.

However they are guidelines that owners of designated heritage properties (municipal, provincial or federal) are encouraged to follow. National Historic Site designation confers no legal protection.

I didn't catch the name on the signage, but looks like another burger joint going in where White Star was on Albert.

Fascinating. Do you float a bunch of empties in your bathtub, or do you fill cans with hot water and leave then around your place?
