Osteria now occupies half of the building, and is still operating. The sushi place takes up the other half of the building.

I'd like that building to be replaced, but the proposed height had a slim chance (at best) of being approved in the first place. I doubt Druh was the only person standing in the way of it getting built as envisioned. It would be great to have active fronts on both Kensington and 10th, no parking lot and a large amount of space added to the pedestrian realm on the corner. Get 3 people standing there waiting to cross 10th and it's too crowded.

Typical of what? Everything this family does has more than a faint whiff of corruption, sleaziness and greed. I wouldn't trust a survey they commissioned either.

The negative press will probably affect Farrell more than the family's restaurant (I don't believe they own the restaurant anymore anyways). Whether Farrell actually was involved in trying to take money or not won't matter, she did vote on the decision, so she is already involved either way and it's bad optics. Perception is everything.

This is all about trying to ruin her chances of winning her ward again, these guys want someone who will do what they want, hence the smear campaign. Farrell was voting on something in her ward as is her right and responsibility. If she failed to disclose information that could constitute a conflict of interests, then that's on her. This whole thing seems shady as fuck, and without more knowledge of the circumstances surrounding this, I'm currently inclined to take her side.

All the anti Farrell suburbanites will probably love this and jump all over her for it, people like to believe what they want to believe...

Here is Jim Stevenson's sort of retirement speech, posted today on youtube.

It is a thank-you to his staff, but he is speaking in the past tense on throughout the speech. I'm going to assume this is confirmation that he will not run again in October 2017. The closest we get in this speech is a commitment that he will be around until September.

I noticed similar phrasing in his Airport Trail /Metis Trail video, that made it sound lie he wasn't running in October. That video also says he's trying to secure funding from the federal government for Airport Trail interchanges (by the Airport) prior to October.

Did you read the article? I'm talking about the alleged $2,500 campaign donation in return for her voting in favour of the project... mentioned in the article.

I never said she is guilty of anything, only that the bad press is there regardless. Even after all the dust settles and she's found not guilty of anything (the most likely scenario) the damage will be done.

I'd argue it is more of a "development and hospitality corporation" than a family restaurant.

Which sort of proves his point. Most people don't know anything about them, who knew they were a hospitality development corporation whereas Druh is front and centre. Everyone knows who she is. Not that this issue will have much affect, she'll still get voted back in, but it might sway a few people who are on the fence about her.
