How close to the rendering is the lobby/retail space expected to be? Seems if 2 or 3 retailers carve it up and put their individual stamp on the space, it could appear a good deal different.

I doubt they would show it in the rendering if they weren't expecting that to be the final result.

Sterling Bay is likely courting high-end fashion and technology retailers for the space, any one of which could take the entire frontage.

The space is wide but not very deep (because of elevator core and service functions for the tower) so I don't see them chopping it up unless North Michigan Avenue starts to become a corridor of McDonalds and wig shops...

But Daley never said any such thing, and no project was ever altered in such a way.

Daley's last couple of Plan Commissioners signed off on a couple of projects (like Legacy) that wouldn't have gotten the nod earlier in his administration. But only one project (One Museum Park) was ever encouraged to go taller, and none ever got any thinner.

Are people crazy? That four-story building is as ho-hum as they come. There is zero need for preservation at this location. Knock it down. Build something tall and beautiful. Welcome to the future.

I was walking around the 150 park last week, thinking, "Omigosh, a building that blocks some views has probably increased the value of many of the condos." The units on the south end of the condo building now look out over a lovely park. No more trains, just trees, then river.

That it's utterly dishonest. This is a town where the architecture is about showing what's holding the building up. Having three stories of brick piers floating in midair is just a silly parlor trick.

You seem to be missing the facade of the 3 story building with the Radio Shack.

If you want to maintain the character of the streetscape, you may as well incorporate that facade as well.
