New Residence Inn by Marriott

A note has been added to the reservations page of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Winnipeg:

"Renovation Information – Construction has started on a Residence Inn adjacent to this hotel. Construction should not affect guest stays, but work activity will be noticeable through December 2018."

I take it this will be between the Homewood Suites and the railway tracks?

Yeah, I'm guessing South of Fairfield and West of Homewood.

When travelling for work I like staying at Residence Inn, they offer free wine & beer from 4-6 Mon-Thur and usually have snack food out too.

It is a physical addition to the Fairfield Inn - 6 storey, 90 Room (Residence Inn).

The City has a new website out on parks and rec. Searchable GIS type map. Works fairly well. Be sure to 'clear all' of your previous search selections. If you select multiple items, it will try to find a place with all those selections.

No so sure about this thing - for a relatively high profile location, not the most inspiring looking building. The lack of glazing really stands out.

^ I don't mind the starkly contemporary look myself, but I can understand why others might not be crazy about it.

Have we ever seen a rendering of what the phase 2 residential tower is supposed to look like? I wonder when that will get going?

It looks like a parking garage.

^ Oh man, you can't be serious. The only thing the previous version had going for it is more glazing, and you just know it would have been scaled back in the final iteration anyway.

The current design will always look as if it is waiting for the final cladding to be applied, as if the white is some primed application...

If they wanted the Scandinavian look, they could have gone with something like this:

^ Hah. Fair enough. But let's wait to see the finished product before passing harsh judgment on that project.

^^ Don't worry with that high profile location those walls won't stay white for long.

That's not worse. It's not good, but the current structure looks bad. Flatten out the arches and you're doing better.

Glazing isn't everything, but seeing a new building so underglazed as the one on osborne seems negligent to me. You have to be able to see out! Looks like a modernized burtalist brick! Don't let brutalism happen again!

That said, I'm happy that more activity is brought to the area, full stop.

would this projects design have anything to do with the new building codes i wonder

also curent one is better
the one above would use a lower quality glass that would have a cheap plastic look meh
what we have now is now stuco either

How can you even drive down that piece of Pembina? I thought the bus wheels fell off when we went over that stretch.

Bruno's garage had more style.
