Heritage designation should be lifted on the Traveller's Building at Wednesday's planning commission meeting, clearing the way for the city to continue demolition. Anyone know why it is up to the city spend for the demolition and clear out the site, not the property owner? Or is this a case where the city has the work done and bills the owner for the cost?

Looks to be a small part of a massive building. And to be honest, the majority of the warehouse is not very interesting, only front has historical appeal really.

So how many buildings are there on the former GM grounds? Some comments I've seen about it on social media mention it being the plant building and not the main GM building. Is the long building right on Winnipeg where they do dog training and Hockey Regina, is that part of the building that went up?

Its just bad reporting. City will not do it unless owner refuses and leaves a hazard/mess.

They wonder why infill development isn't happening. Seriously?! Quit approving new subdivisions. It's easier to build in a new area than to build infill. This was brought up when they were discussing Coopertown. The city is so dumb sometimes.

Devereaux has applied to the RPC for approval for a 176 unit apartment complex on Chuka Dr. to be called Apex at Acre 21. Acre 21 will be the adjacent shopping centre.

There is also a 54 unit townhouse development on Narcisse in the north end and an 8 unit development in the General Hospital area up for approval.

These are good signs for the economy.

As well as a lot of NIMBY-ism. Try to develop a 3-storey or even a townhouse complex in a 60 year old neighbourhood and see what kind of push back you'll get.

Sobeys is putting a liquor store near the Safeway in Southland next spring. That answers the question about Sobeys South Albert vs Southland Safeway.

The best solution to address non-conformities on the site is to return the buildings to one or two-unit buildings which is how they were originally approved. Administration is currently pursuing this through bylaw enforcement
