Hopefully the pace will pick up once the tower crane is erected. We're told that they're supposed to be done the parkade this summer. That won't be happening at the current rate of progress.

By going off of the college quarter hotel. That went up fast even the parkade. Now i dont know how much of a difference in constructing an underground parkade as to an above ground...but that crane even with the 9 storeys looked quick to me...maybe im wrong.

But with the crane coming soon...and with the second. Im optomistic that it will take off quick.

Parkade should be done, as the structure will start on the second floor and the slab on grade will be later, it should go up to ground level relatively quickly.

Wow the banks has either not updated their website in a while or sales have really ground to a halt I am sure that is disapointing for the dev. Im glad that the pumphouse is going to be leased as a restaurant.... also it absolutly has to be called The Pumphouse.

There is a tall crane/lift at the Riverlanding site adjacent to the first upright red piece of the main crane by the excavated hole....this must mean the assembly of crane is imminent?!

its been there since thursday/friday. since its still on the site, im assuming its to assemble the crane - whatever the schedule is for that. i havent seen anymore sections of the crane appear yet. but i expect a couple trailers with the rest of it to come at some point soon. the base is in....so we all know its happening finally. when crane bases are installed, its usually a short time frame before they get assembled.

^^^ The tower crane erection is simply going at the same pace as the rest of the parkade...

OK, that's a little catty, but this thing isn't exactly setting records for progress. And, no, Capital Pointe in Regina is not a project that should be used for comparison purposes.

Does anyone know if Stuart Olson is the general contractor only for the parkade or the whole condo structure? I know that Bockstael is the construction manager.

Have the general contractors been awarded for the hotel or east office towers?

If someone has information to the contrary, please feel free to correct me, but here is my understanding of what is happening on site:

- Stuart Olson is the Construction Manager and General Contractor for the parkade beneath the hotel/condo only. They are self-performing the concrete work.

- Bockstael is the Construction Manager for both the Hotel and the Condo. They will not be self-performing the concrete work.

- Ledcor is Construction Manager for the East Tower and the parkade beneath it. They will not be self-performing the concrete work.

Thanks for the quick reply Crisis. You read my mind by about the concrete work; that's exactly what I wanted to know.

and the East office tower is good to go this year? the MVA site says so, and you guys on here.

in the link i posted last friday about the D/E parcel being opened up, something said a feature building is going to begin once the traffic bridge is completed. dont know if they are talking about the East office, the parcel d/e OR something else...

im curious on that topic.

The feature building was something totally different. I believe it was supposed to be a building with a restaurant in it. This was to be on land other than the parcels you mentioned. There was no interest in it on the first go around a while back.

Didn't get a shot, but it's just a baby right now. Typical length boom for a tower crane, but it's very low to the ground. Maybe 15-20 m above grade? I laughed when I saw it.

I had same reaction.....that's it???!!! But I guess this is just for the parkade portion of project and a crane of more significance will go up when they get to grade. This one is for sure "underwhelming" after so much built up anticipation...haha But it is progress!

You can always add sections in and make it grow. No need for a crane 100 metres up for now especially if all the work is below grade.
