Despite having far fewer office towers than Calgary, Edmonton does have a bigger skyline than the typical US city in the same size range. The ICE District towers are going to make Edmonton look comparable to a US city of several million people.

No crane yet, they were still excavating on Sat. I am by there today so will have a gander into the pit.

Learn more about fellow Edmontonians and our various
neighbourhoods with the 11th annual Jane’s Walk, an initiative that supports the growth of strong and resourceful communities through walking. Jane’s Walk leaders will be hosting walks this Friday at City Hall to kick off the weekend of walking, talking and learning more about the place we call home.

Jane’s Walk takes place May 5-8 in cities throughout the world. Created in 2007 in Toronto by friends of the urban thinker, Jane Jacobs, Jane’s Walk is a series of free, volunteer-led urban walks. With over 500 cities taking part in last year’s 10th anniversary, Jane’s Walk has become an international activity for participants of all ages to continue to share their stories and get involved.

The City of Edmonton’s series of Jane’s Walks are organized by Walk Edmonton, an initiative that promotes walking in neighbourhoods, parks, trails, and business districts, for all ages.

Property sale prices continue to inch up in the Edmonton region marking a “strong start” to the spring buying season, according to new real estate numbers.

Realtors Association of Edmonton data released Tuesday shows single-family home average price increased in April 2017 to $439,438, up 0.07 per cent compared to March 2017 and up 0.03 per cent relative to April 2016.

The big gain, however, was in the condominium market.

In April 2017, the average price was $257,740, an increase of 6.23 per cent over March 2017 and an increase of 2.32 per cent compared to the same period last year.

^ I am shocked at how low the average price for condos is.
I wish some of the nice new condos were around that price... 350k for a 1 berm 55m^2 is outrageous!

I would love to have a unit in encore/ultima or it's peers but those prices are nuts

Out in my end of suburbia, housing starts are almost unreal right now. So many have started up this spring, especially compared to last year. It's going gangbusters again here soon. I'm not sure what is fueling this demand, the oil patch is still in the early end of recovery...

Yes, I've noticed this too. I'm in Mactaggart and a smaller builder has just broke ground on a 4190 sq ft spec house. Last empty lot on my street and by far the biggest house. That's (misplaced?) confidence.

Yup. Many home builders that I am speaking with are busy, no real spec, but lots of work. I think this might have to do with multiple players either focussing elsewhere or reducing supply which allows others to gain.
