There are so many office proposals currently that it is difficult to remember them all.

Yes completely new, obviously there have been previous rumblings about the site in the past, but this will be a new unheard of proposal for that location. That is all for now, so no point asking.

And no it will not make the height obsessed happy.

My guess would be the Austeville site on West Georgia (Budget Rent-a-Car), only because it's a relatively empty site that hasn't had a concrete proposal/design issued for it, and it would have the same view cone over it as Telus Garden.

Oh deary me, I'm quite certain the site your talking about is in my list of 3. I'm curious which one of us will be able to spill first, assuming someone else doesn't first that is.

I'm fairly confident I know all 3 of the ones you have hinted at and I'm not at all concerned about being first, have at it.

I won't release an real details until the documents are public.

hmm i bet the height will go up to the view cone. tell me im wrong! haha. who knows, maybe some people who say the market dictates the height are right and it wont maximize it.

Oh, I'm not concerned with being first, it's more that they go public as early as possible. I obviously will be waiting until I get clearance as well. After all, there's only so many people that go to open houses and take photos of the models. At this point I think there's more than a few people in the city staff / development community that know who are behind these feathers.

Hmmm, maybe the proposal in question will be an interesting one when it is finally delivered to the public in a nice little package. The developer shouldn't have to look too far for a tenant...

So Amazon wants to expand across the street? Seems like a natural choice location for their second office downtown, as would 753 Seymour.

Hmmm -
I was thinking Canada Post needed some downtown office space (despite having moved out of the Main Post Office), given they just opened a retail store in Austeville's 475 West Georgia (i.e. existing relationship).

But, you're probably right - as Amazon would be more apt to be in the market for the amount of space likely to trigger a new building.

Third office.

Second will be in the 401 expansion.

That was my guess. I'm still hoping for another redesign of the post office development.

On the positive, it is gratifying to hear about more commercial office development in downtown, especially when it involves a significant commitment by a major player like Amazon. And a big thanks to all the hinters.

On the negative, the brutal and unforgiving tabletop that the city's extreme viewcone limitation is creating along West Georgia is going to become insufferable in the coming years. Telus Garden, the Public Library, the future Bay parkade redevelopment, the future Post Office redevelopment, the new Vancouver Art Gallery and accompanying office tower, and now this rumoured development on the Budget Rental site will all be neutered by city policy at exactly the same height: a dismal 90-metres or so, precisely where a dynamic corridor of skyscrapers could and would soar, but for the city's artificial prohibition.

I think the ridiculous and unnatural aesthetic result (along with the gross economic waste) might even be enough to make the less militant viewcone apologists see the error of this policy when its carried to its logical conclusion, which the current city council is intent on doing.

The city did identify W Georgia as a major corridor where buildings of significant architectural excellence can penetrate a view cone, so far no one has taken the plunge on that one though.
