In terms of the grant to SkyCity, separate from what I think of the development/developer I remain very concerned as a tax payer to Winnipeg. Normal procedure for grants on residential development is for it to be received once construction is completed. Paying the money up front has a high risk of the money taxpayers are putting into being "spent" and getting nothing substantial in return.

Land is too expensive downtown which is why you have unheated 8-9 foot wide covered parking that costs $55k downtown, or so they say that is the price at 311 Hargrave.
Imagine what a garage on Assiniboine would cost.

Well, they definitely have access to a garage given that it's part of a complex with one.

Land expensive in Winnipeg? Ahhhh, so it has joined the ranks of NYC, TO and Vancouver LOL. People can make all the excuses they want, but there simply is no vision in Winnipeg.

I'mpretty sure that they are only going to be getting money upon completion.

Yes I know that already. I was just going to see if they had their own garage out front off Assiniboine and a back yard to the river. Parking at 300 is at least $200 a month. That's why Bridge Point townhouses are in Bridge Point.

Yes Mr. Recluse, land is cheap compared to NY City.

You can build anything downtown if you have the money and a grant from the government.

The townhouses on 300 front the parking garage and block it from the street. They have a little terrace on the front but they definitely don't have back yards. They're a budget version of Coal Harbour podium townhouses.

There's no backyards on 300 Ass. Its a huge sheet pile wall along the river, with the parking garage inside of that wall.

can we accept the fact that we are going to have two new skyscrapers in our city in the next 3 - 4 years or so ...

I said it from day one, people called me overly optimistic believed all the negative publicity thought they were bunch of con artist.. I always had my faith I knew this company was legit and that this thing was going to happen

I've also heard it on tsn 1290 and CJOB so it's not exactly isolated. This project is still alive, to what extent still remains to be seen.

people who invested in condos say they are told its going to start in august September.. they have said on their website they are working on drawings
