Firstly, Willard Rouse is a city legend lol. He's the developer for One Liberty Place who helped break the height limit.
Second, I think Gonzo the Great is Outta Here.

We're clearly getting bored and need some new development. Only one 400+ footer starting construction in the last two and a half years. We need some more action lol!

Truly. The past few months has been a whole lot of dry conjecture on here. If you think about it this entire so called "boom" has seen just three towers over 400 feet (CITC, FMC, W/Element) (Four, if you wanna count Evo I guess). Sure, two of them were landmark but I've been saying that in terms of quantity, we really haven't had so much going on, especially relative to most other peer cities. Now it looks like we'll have even less smh. City can't expect to improve with this mediocre progress while other cities of similar stature are growing like wildfire. We gotta come up with innovative strategies to pick up the pace.

You are all seriously undercounting the towers going up and the cranes. We've got One Riverside, 500 Walnut, Roberts Center for Pediatric Research, the Bridge and many others that were missed. Especially smaller residential structures, but still qualifying as highrises. The new Penn Medicine Pavilion is being dog, East Market, etc...but yes, it would be nice to see an uptick in truly tall towers that get under way. It needs to be driven by corporate growth and jobs.

exactly. People want to draw an arbitrary line at 400ft or whatever and then say anything below that doesn't count as a real tower. Well if you do that than sure. But Philly has a TON of development that is under 400ft as well as rowhouses and 3-5 story multifamily buildings in fringe areas.

even when 1301 was announced there was no claim it would start in 2017. Same for the projects near 30th street. Projects that might actually start this year would be 1910 chestnut, the View 2, 1911 Walnut, 1300 fairmount, Centric hotel and 1324 N. Broad. The new Penn hospital and 3675 Market are already under construction and will conceivably have cranes up later this year.

If I had my way, I'd rather see a bunch of 1213 Walnuts than 1 supertall. The infill like towers like 1213 are more transformational, to me, than one 1200' tower sitting inside a landscaped plaza. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing a skyline busting tower, but the real measure of a city is a unified street wall as far as the eye can see with as few surface lots as possible.

Did anyone ever hear that Brandywine was moving it's HQ from Radnor? It's mentioned in this summary of Q1 leasing activity in the region. I can't find any articles about this announcement.

I asked the same question in the FMC thread. They tweeted out a video that claimed their "new corporate home" was the FMC tower (you can see it here https://twitter.com/BrandywineREIT). They also use a 30th St. District rendering as their header photo, which I found interesting. They seem pretty serious about that and Schuylkill Yards.
