As well, signage is up at another IMANI development. Construction will start early next year on its property at Madison and Dawson. The area could see upwards of 15 buildings being constructed at once. The pace of construction at Brentwood is astounding. It is practically the centre of development in the Lower Mainlaind.
Which corner of Madison and Dawson?

The northwest corner, which is across from Porte. On the sign it mentions that a 40 story tower is going up and sales will start in the Fall of 2017.

Another Highrise Proposal for Brentwood Area
Posted on July 25, 2016

On the same day that Onni is submitting a formal rezoning application for it’s first phase of 3 residential towers at Gilmore Station, another rezoning application has been filed for a site just East of Onni’s land in the rapidly developing Brentwood area of Burnaby.

The application is being made for a currently industrial property at 4285-4295 Dawson Street, at the northwest corner of Madison Avenue. The site is 56,500 SF. The site is designated in the Brentwood Town Centre Plan a mixed use high-density (RM-5s).

The preliminary proposal by Imani Development, is for a mixed use development comprised of retail, office and a highrise residential tower, to a maximum density of 6.0 FAR, with a residential density of 5.0 FAR.

The application notes that the tower height would be 431 feet, or likely around 40-45 storeys.

I know Dawson Brentwood, as it will be called, was already mentioned before in another post. I just wanted to point out that signage is up on the property and when to expect construction to start. The development that I was uncertain was mentioned was the IMANI development on Douglas Rd. Dont beleive it has been, but I may be mistaken.

Thanks for the update. Looks like very fine concrete work, a bit similar to Modello. Looking forward to this.

Here's the Milano rendering.

A bit hit and miss (i.e. the slit windows at top of the tower), but the concrete columns at the base and wrap around balconies should prevent a spandrel mess.
The really thin columns supporting (?) the balconies on the south side are interesting.
I wonder if they are just decorative? (they appear to be decorative at the penthouse level)
Also, look at the NW corner - no column below and column appears for the upper floors.
I suppose they could add some rigidity?

Thanks for a proper rendering, although that is so dishonest about the surroundings... Yes, it's going to change a lot (although nothing like in the rendering), but currently it's as disconnected as you can be in Brentwood area...

It's a filler tower that will still be visible from the highway.

But that section south of Dawson will fill up really fast once Lumina gets going. Also there is that proposed condo just north of Milano, Milano is just the pioneer. Just add more retails along the Dawson corridor between Willingdon/Beta, this will be a fine area to live. IMO

The initial proposal was the add HOV lanes to Willingdon Avenue and make it into a 6 lane roadway. Residents protested because it would make the road, in essence, into a freeway. The plan changed to a better proposal, a greenway. There will also be two dedicated left turn lanes from Willingdon onto Parker, which will help with traffic flow on the Avenue.

There will also be two small parks along the way. They will be located on the southeast side of Parker St. and the southeast corner of Charles St. Good places to take a rest before going up to the Heights. As well, pedestrian crosswalks will be added on Kitchener, William, and Union Streets. Looking forward to taking advantage of the Greenway next year. I will feel safer using this pathway to get to Hastings and Brentwood.

From the latest InfoBurnaby:
Quote:
Twenty-five per cent of Burnaby is parks and open spaces. The new Willingdon Linear Park will provide yet another option for outdoor recreation and relaxation.

Construction of the new park will soon begin along the 13-block corridor between Brentlawn Drive and Hastings Street on Willingdon. When complete, it will be a safe accessible, attractive multi-use trail for pedestrians, cyclists and public transit users. Features will include a paved pathway, seating, interactive installations, trees, lights and gathering areas.

The park will connect the busy new Brentwood area to our vibrant Heights neighbourhood and will be the first of its kind in the region.

"We are so pleased to be adding yet another park to our city," says Mayor Derek Corrigan. "It will be a beautiful and practical new addition – and it will be funded by Community Benefit Bonus Funds provided by building developers, meaning there’ll be no cost to taxpayers for its construction."

According to the City of Burnaby, it will be a 23 storey residential tower. The land is owned by Monark Group. It is being designed by Chris Dikeakos Architects.

Drove down Kingsway noticed a huge sales centre at the former car dealership across the street from BCNDP HQ/Best Western. Any idea what that is for?

Also Pixel at Kingsway and Gilley is slowly moving along, Site clearing for the social housing component of Southgate has begun.

Found this when digging around google, trying to see how bad my view will be blocked. No official source. Makes it seem as if the site is also part of Lumina Brentwood.
