Thanks for the info! Hopefully thats the case, I'm eager for it to rise! 300 main should rise a bit quicker than some other recently built highrises (like Heritage Landing) because the foundation is complete, yes?

I have mentioned on her before that you likely wont see anything starting to rise until Sep-Oct. There is a lot of prep work to move HVAC and other systems and prep the existing pile caps. Also installation of the Tower crane should happen over the summer sometime.

At least seeing prep work staring will be a good sight. I wonder how they'll handle keeping the Square sealed up and protected form weather (rain and snow) while removing the mechanical, roof, etc; and building upwards from there.

Of course, water will filter down to the lowest point, in this case that is Winnipeg Square.

There will be plenty of activity in May, just a bit of elbow grease before things get really moving. But then it moves... At this point, that puts them hardly a month behind schedule, but they've murmured that schedule is all intact, they're just not rushing the pricing process since time is on their side.

Orange tarps wouldn't seem to be a good idea with people eating and the like below, IMO anyways. Maybe they'll put a solid roof overtop. Like corrugated metal or something.

Agreed. Just seeing the crane on site will be great, much better than SkyCity's 50% sold sign.

Yup. I was just thinking of the roof because they'll need to have it be open, at some point and likely many points in time, to properly install the crane, beams and columns all that stuff. Putting a temporary roof over it would have to be quite high it would seem to me. Anyways, will be an interesting project to watch.

I believe the crane will be using the foundation supports on the middle pad site in between 300 and 360

I'm guessing the crane is going to be placed right on the north curb lane of Graham.

I don't understand where and how things like elevators, electrical, and plumbing will be installed. All with a roof in place.

As for elevators, well there already is an existing elevator core, so that will just be extended. Plumbing, electrical, who knows, but I'm sure that's not hard for any architect/builder to manage.

They said a while back that the crane will be on Graham. I believe the city said access to Graham from Main will be transit only during construction, no regular vehicle access.

While talking Graham, does anyone know what the City/BIZ' plan is for streetscaping on Graham? I for one actually love the existing design of the lighting/poles on Graham (very unique here), and the horizontal traffic lights (Wpg is weirdly opposed to these usually). But with the SHED streetscaping taking over on Graham around the arena, it looks kind of ridiculous to me. The corner of Graham and Donald/Hargrave have 3 different designs on them: Transit Mall, SHED, and standard. Plus the new bus stop/transit design.

I remember the city saying the new streetlight design on Fort (simple round polished steel) was going to be the new standard downtown, but I have yet to see those go up anywhere else.

Does anyone know if 300 main will have some sort of public observation area? I know SkyCity was supposed to have some sort of sky lounge, but there seems to be a lot of speculation as to whether that will even be built.
Winnipeg really needs an observation area at its highest point, the Richardson had one years ago but that's been long closed and Prairie 360 and the CMHR are obstructed in some directions because they aren't the highest point.

I sure am hoping there is more to the Fort side than what we can see in the flyover view because the building sure has a disconnect to anything on that side. Otherwise it sure looks sharp overall!
