^Probably. But it's not the NHL's to decide. That's totally up to the IOC.

And the IOC has said that NHL players must go to Korea for the NHL to be able to participate in the Beijing games. I'm sure they will find a way after the outrage from no NHL, but with the KHL going.

That is a shocker, I thought Ed was doing extremely well. Len Rhodes sounds defensive and his reasoning very odd.

Yeah I find some of the reasoning rather odd. A contract extension dispute is understandable, but Rhodes' biggest complaint is lack of player accessibility?

Len Rhodes' job is to bring fans into the seats. That's not Ed Hervey's job at all. One of the dumbest moves this organization has made in a long time.

Hervey bullied his way right out the Eskimos' door
http://www.edmontonsun.com/2017/04/07/hervey-bullied-his-way-right-out-the-eskimos-door

So did I read that right? Terry Jones of the SUN is glad Hervey got the boot because he's been leading the charge towards more media access? Funny, I assumed that the role of a sports GM was to build a winning team, not be chummy with the local news hacks. I've always thought that some members of the local sports media had an over-inflated sense of entitlement and this is ample proof of that.

Terry Jones is blowhard. His reporting is second rate at best.

We fired a great GM for all the wrong reasons. Esks fans have apparently been calling and emailing the front office to cancel their season seats. Good job Len! Way to get those asses in the seats. Way to ruin a great franchise you tool!

I just sent my email. So very disappointed in this bad decision by Len Rhodes.

Ed Hervey was making the Esks avery good franchise again!!!

Len Rhodes is not a football guy and never will be. He doesn't get it.

Just in case anyone cares....

Canada's Gushue golden at world men's curling championship
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/winter...wins-mens-curling-championship-1.4063325

Quote:
EDMONTON — Canada's Brad Gushue completed a perfect run at the Ford World Men's Curling Championship on Sunday with a 4-2 victory over Sweden's Niklas Edin in the gold-medal game.

Gushue drew to the four-foot ring to score two points in the ninth end and delivered a takeout for the win in the 10th.

He defeated Edin on three occasions en route to his first world title. Gushue beat him once during an 11-0 round-robin, topped him in the Page 1-2 game and did it again when it counted most.

"It's awesome," Gushue said. "That was a stressful game. Niklas and his team played so well. You have to give them credit. They're one of the best teams in the world.

"It took everything we had to beat them tonight."

The St. John's team of Gushue, third Mark Nichols, second Brett Gallant and lead Geoff Walker are the first rink to go undefeated at this event since Winnipeg's Kerry Burtnyk in 1995.

Gushue is the first skip to do it in the 12-team era.

I'd love to know why the Flames series gets CBC coverage while the Oilers series is shunted off to Sportsnet.

Been busy....

Olympics. Fuck that. Oil will be a legitimate contender next year. I want our best players to be focused on winning a cup.

Hervey. He was his own worst enemy. Sounds like the discussion was to have him as only GM on his next contract, and bring in somebody else for football operations. Hervey could build a very good team, but he burnt a lot of bridges with the media. As much as I like winning, I also like to see this city excited about the esks and asses in seats...which you don't get when you and your team do almost no media outreach.

Unpopular opinion time. Rogers sucks. I want the old barn back. The atmosphere will never come close until they remove the loge seating and fill in the gap between the two main levels with more seating.

Maybe they wanted to showcase the flames as they will be making an early exit 4 straight

Doesn't matter. SN owns the rights so it's technically Flames being shunted off to CBC.
