It's more than not too bad, it's bad ass! Is there a comparable cluster in Vancouver? I'm digging the darker tones, no west coast vibe here, and even though Vancouver has some great condos, these really compliment each other and are masculine so to speak.

That building in the foreground with the egg-looking thing on top is where I always stay when in Montreal, Hotel le Crystal. It's a wicked boutique hotel with a rooftop saltwater pool and hot tub. Reasonably priced and close to everything (Bell Centre, Old Montreal, St. Catherine). Highly recommend! Sweet shot BTW.

I agree. Montreal is lucky to have less condo development than either Vancouver or Toronto; though both are great cities building what they must, both are absolutely stuffed full of banality. I find Montreal's new developments lacking at ground level (thankfully the city's streetscape otherwise is exceptional), but they seem more tailored and fill the skyline more thoughtfully.

Seafoam green condos have been out of style in Vancouver for about 10 years. Most new ones are the same colour as those. Or Miami-white in my neighbourhood for some reason.

Too soon and too small a sample size to see how Montreal does in terms of variety in its condos, but so far the style is less related to Vancouver/Toronto than the latter are to each other, as necessitated by climate. Though the one in the middle with the lemon juicer - I feel like I've seen it in Toronto on a few buildings.

Yes and no. While we are seeing more variety lately (and much more variety in new proposals), many of the tallest condo towers built in the last few years are seafoam green or something close to it: Telus Garden, The Mark, Capitol Residences, Patina...

I didn't know exactly where to put this, but this 60 m. ferris wheel will certainly have an impact on the skyline of the Old Port in Montreal where it is being constructed. It will be a permanent attraction, entirely financed by European investors.

There is a webcam of the construction site at the bottom of the opening page on this site.

Wow that seems to have come out of nowhere.

I'm sure it'll be very profitable year-round.

That will be a great attraction for the Vieux Port. I'm actually surprised something like that didn't come along sooner.

It seems as though standalone urban ferris wheels-as-tourist-attraction are becoming a thing.

Hmmm. This either allows you to take the classic skyline shot of Montreal, or ruins the classic skyline shot of Montreal.

Not sure how I feel about that ferris wheel. On the one hand it sounds like a tacky idea but I have to see and experience it in person to have a concrete opinion. More attractions on that stretch of waterfront are a good thing as its a lot quiter than other parts of Montreal, but yeah...I'd like to hear the opinion of Montrealers who've actually seen it in person to get a better idea.
