Great news! Is it still unclear what the retail pertains to at MOB?

I have a pretty good feeling that Gov. Deal and Mayor Reed are once more going to end up deservedly being the goats when people can't get to work in the morning. Plans should have already been well underway to have police and highway patrol posted on the alternative surface streets to organize through traffic during rush hour tomorrow morning. By now the public should already have been informed of which routes will restrict cross-street traffic in order to facilitate the main right-of-way flow. It will be a complete c****** f***.

To be honest, there is really no way to reroute that much inflow to the city after this collapse of 85 at that point. If you have ever made the 400 south to I85 into Atl at 6-9:30 am trip then you know how many people do that every morning. This is going to suck no matter what any Govenor or Mayor can do. Best we can hope for is a quick repair/replacement of the affected spans. Hope everyone makes it in to work tomorrow early/on time!!

Eh? Funny how everyone thinks they are expert traffic engineers. Our highways and roads are in gridlock when there are no collapsed bridges. Not defending them, but there is little to do except advise drivers to take alternate routes and/or reduce the number of trips they take through that area. They will get the bridge fixed as soon as feasible and Deal with throw as much money at it as possible, but there are limits and you have to be realistic.

Someone at WSB-TV 2 also said this, during their hours of bridge fire coverage. I guess it was true after the foam was sprayed on the bridge.

A good reason to take MARTA into the city, instead of driving.

For what its worth, a lot of people seem resigned to the fact this will take months upon months if not years to repair. However I am unjustifiably optimistic that it won't be that bad, based on how quickly the MacArthur Maze was rebuilt after it exploded. It took only 26 days for it to reopen. I'm not an expert but this seems like it may be a comparable situation

What a disaster, kind of daunting how much traffic this collapse is going to cause, at the minimum for the next few months. Since no one was hurt, I think it safe to say perhaps one silver lining we can get from this disaster, it might make mass transportation enhancement and expansion a more popular option among the masses throughout Metro Atlanta.

I tend to think that people will adjust to and plan for the situation and it won't be as bad as expected. But this only applies to those committing into the city. For those using this as a pass-through from the south side to the North side or vice versa there really aren't any good options other than shifting to other already congested highways. By the way, traffic has gotten increasingly worse over the last few years as the local economy has boomed.

This might end up being a win for MARTA and transit for the city of ATLANTA.

One Museum Place

I really like the way One Museum Place turn out and I especially like how the narrow interior street gives the project a little European vibe. With that open interior space, it feels more appealing and inviting and it's better than having one massive facade facing Peachtree Street.

I suspect that this development will be on any Location Scout manager's list for the film and TV industry in the area. It's just one more feather in the cap for Atlanta and Georgia's diversity of places for "stand-Ins" for other locales.

This is my hope too, perhaps there will finally be pressure on the state to help fund MARTA like it should.

Either way, I think it takes 30-40 days.

Pretty much makes the case for transportation alternatives on its own. If taking out one portion of one road can ruin traffic in the entire region, then something is fundamentally wrong.

Land Development Permit filed today for 98 14th Street, OPUS No. 2 Tower.

Link : "14TH STREET TOWER- LAND DISTURBANCE. 55 STORY HOTEL AND RESIDENTIAL BUILDING WITH RETAIL AND AMENITY SPACE."

This is another step in the right direction.
