I was waiting for you to prove it, Diamond-X! When you didn't, I gave it a go. The first two stitch together nicely, but you'd need another intermediate image to get all the way around to the beach.

E_R, just for conversation at your next party, it's my understanding the standard disclosure form for a home sale requires the seller to state if anyone has died in the house. When my dad passed away in 2006, we sold his house and the realtor asked if he died there (no, BTW, in a very un-noirish hospital). The realtor said some people of certain cultures regard buying a home where someone died as bad luck. Not sure if driveways count....

Well the 'under contract' terminology is not really used but yes, there are still 'AAA Approved' auto repair garages, in the same manner as AAA approved lodgings and restaurants. The closest one to the Classic Garage location is Bert's Garage at 1912 N. Cahuenga.

Absolutely. Palms proper don't bloom like that! With that inflorescence, it could even be some (unfamiliar) species of Agave or (better?) Beschorneria that had had all of its leaves sliced off.

Also, is it really possible for a plant to grow a foot in one day? That's almost scary.

It's off to Huntington Beach for today's Julius Shulman post. This is "Job 5146: Kurt Meyer, Huntington Beach Civic Center (Huntington Beach, Calif.), 1974".

This is the back of the police department. Those squad cars remind me of countless TV shows and movies I watched in the '70s and '80s .

I assume that this last photo shows a meeting room.

The Civic Center and police department can still be found at 2000 Main Street, Huntington Beach. Apart from the solar panels, the exterior looks the same.

It can happen. Back to Agaves, I've personally had Agave flower stalks literally grow 8 inches in a day, so 12 inches wouldn't surprise me. Grasses and Bamboos (Bamboos are grasses; Corn too, for that matter) can grow that fast. Tropical rain forest plants--trees and lianas--can do that; and I wouldn't put it past some Orchids. Yes, it is frightening!

FWIW, Mayerling was a French Film released in 1936, but (apparently) did reach the Esquire Theater until 1938.
