^^^ Nice find someone123.

I wish Halifax Councillors would stick their necks out and allow some 100 meter plus towers in the city. In any case, the skyline looks good.

Love that Calgary shot! Unique angle.

Here's another unusual angle - of Victoria looking across to the lights of Port Angeles Washington. Photo by Conan Chee

Indeed, it's slightly bigger than in July 2016 (though I prefer to rely on official stats). But I don't think there's a correlation between the estimated ~15k population gain since then and the bulkiness of its skyline ;-) It has more to do with the city being the metropolis of the Atlantic region and also its main port and train terminal.

Anyway, back to skylines :

It should be noted that the Halifax metropolitan area is based on the old County of Halifax boundaries (Halifax was forced by the NS province to govern this area during amalgamation even though half of it is sparsely populated). If the metropolitan area was based on actual commuting patterns of people living in adjacent counties then a more realistic metropolitan population would be in the 500,000 - 550,000 range and would likely cover a smaller area.

Now this is definitely not a commonly seen angle for Calgary. Great shot.

Here's one that's brightened up a bit with the quality turned up.

(I should see if there's a way to be more aggressive about loading higher resolution textures for buildings that are farther away..)

^^^ Residents must be getting tired of snow in Halifax. We have had a rather good winter in the GTA with not too much snow compared to other years.

For those not familiar with the construction projects happening in Halifax, in the background in the middle of the picture you can see two cranes. These are for two residential towers (Pavilion and Curve).

They're going to have similar massing to the Martello, the building just to the left with the slanted roof (I think the slant might indicate the slanted plane of the height limit in that area). From some angles they'll have a fairly substantial effect on the skyline. From others they'll be hidden by the towers downtown.

Another tower will soon be built across the street from (i.e. to the left of) the Roy, the bare concrete tower visible in the foreground on the fast right.

Beyond this there are 4 other small projects under construction visible in the shot. This area is going to continue to change a lot over the next couple of years. 5 years ago it was ripe for development, with many holes. I wonder if 5 years from now the focus will shift to the Cogswell interchange area as Sackvillle Street gets built out?

It is crappy that it snowed again there this week though. A normal day there this time of year is +6.
