Taupe.

I don't mind this building up close and from certain angles, and it finally adds some new height to the core. But driving into downtown on Main West during the day, coming up-slope to Queen, this looms as the Great Wall of Taupe.

Not uncommon. Can take up to a year after the first people move in sometimes.

I do have to admit the internal units ARE beautiful - I never really thought much of this area originally so I am glad to see them put up some big buildings

The friezes — a band of architectural sculptures concrete depicting the history of Canada — are being restored on the old Federal Building façade on Main Street that is now part of a $150 million dollar condominium project.

The eight sculptures by the late renowned Hamilton artist Elizabeth Holbrook were saved from demolition after a series of appeals by organizations and people that included the National Gallery of Canada.

And now that the condominium project by developer Darko Vranich is near completion, Holbrook's protégé Christian Cardell Corbet has been brought in from New Brunswick to restore the 62-year-old friezes on either side of the building's entrance at 150 Main St. W.

Corbet was introduced to local media on Thursday in front of the friezes, to inform the public the restoration is underway.
"restored"? - I still see copper oxide stains on the stonework... and it's been put back up on the building like that..

thats a pretty nice interior. still dont think it justifies $1600 rent for one bedroom and $2100 for two bedroom.

when more supply with connaught comes online I think investors renting out are going to find it difficult to rent out these units for what they are currently asking

Yeah I'm curious too about what happens when all this supply hits. Although as a percentage of apartments in say ward 2, there's not that much.

You guys are so cute It's clear none of you are in real estate!. The owner of these buildings bought all the units back from the purchasers and now the building is 100% rental. It's so funny that none of you knew that.
