Looks like the curtain wall on 181 is about halfway up the residential portion. If you look closely the Salesforce curtain wall is starting to stick up above Millenium Tower.
this little structure on Folsom, you might remember, was built in connection with the project to bring a new power transmission line up from the Potrero Power Plant Area. work on what is supposed to be a public plaza seemed to stop about 6 months ago. you can sort of make out in the pic that a couple chunks of the textured wall are missing. maybe it's being difficult to replace them. but since I am apparently in a grumbling mood tonight, I'm mentioning it since it has been bugging me.
I was also at the location of the sister plaza in Dogpatch a couple weeks ago and didn't see any sign of it there, either

I heard rumors on a blog post that this was proposed several years ago at the corner of Mission and 4th where the Parking Garage. Can anyone confirm?
I think I recall someone sending up a trial balloon about replacing the garage with a taller structure at one point, but I don't recall any specific plan or rendering and I don't think it got very far.

I must of gotten it confused with something else. Though I don think something like that should be built.(Neo-Deco) And that location is perfect for highrises and a connection between the SF Centre and Moscone.
Meawhile, this seems encouraging but, as usual, few specifics except they keep insisting there's a target date of the end of 2017 for having it open:
