I believe Weinstein is now 1 for 4 on ballot measures-

-— condom requirement for LA county (passed)
-— condom statewide (failed)
-VA drug pricing statewide manipulation (failed)
-Measure S (failed)

Unfortunately I think this is just the start for this guy and we will be seeing much more from him, not less sadly.

I'm glad it passed but all this development has me kinda scared for my mom. She's lived in the same rent controlled apartment for damn near 30 years in the Mar Vista area. I've already noted a nearby strip mall getting ready to be torn down for a mixed use development. I fear the buildings on her block may be numbered for more mixed use. Time will tell.

It's maddening isn't it? I've been following Sacremento's burgeoning housing crisis and it's a perfect microcosm for all thats wrong with our planning system.

This isn't just a "we won but everything goes back to normal", type thing. Winning by such a huge margin sets a major YIMBY precedent.

One thing I wonder though is what happens with all the proposals pushed through in the last 6 months that were in fear of S passing?

To bring this thread back from politics to development, one of the more noticeable affects of Measure S not passing that we may see is a slowdown in new proposals. A lot of proposals were fast tracked in order to get in line prior to Measure S passing, so now we should see more of a true, market-based control of development.

We already have what seems to be a record amount of construction downtown, so it will be interesting to see which projects break ground next, given that getting in front of Measure S is no longer a catalyst for rushing through the approvals process and breaking ground.

Can someone confirm the rumor about a 80-95 floor, 1150-1250 foot multiuse (apts/condos/offices/retail) tower proposal in downtown L.A.? Hopefully it will happen now that measure S lost, and height transfers are still possible (got Library/US Bank Tower built)
