Not sure what happened with Meltwich but noticed when they first opened in Winnipeg Square the menu seemed to suggest they would have burgers but never did, A&W likely has an exclusive on that. It also seems that rent might be high in Winnipeg Square. Will be interesting to see if this impacts their plans for City Place as they are part of a chain.

The City Place food court is pretty busy right before MTS Center events.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was what sparked the move.

At one time Meltwich was listed as having both Winnipeg Square and City Place locations on the companies web site.

Saw a sign today at the ZaPizza at City Place that they are looking for help for a location around the 1400 block of Ellice Ave.

Is that a new location or an existing one? I thought the City Place one was the only other one in Winnipeg other than the one in St. Vital.

I'm not a fried chicken guy, but it was pretty good fried chicken.

Their apple mango pie or whatever was crazy delicious though.

Went last week... I had the Aloha Yum meal (burger with a pineapple slice and honey mustard sauce, fries and a drink) plus a peach mango pie, which like Wolf13 said is absolutely delicious. Girlfriend had fried chicken (which she raves about) and rice (which is, well, rice).

Prices were comparable to other fast food restaurants.

Also even if the lineup is out the door, like is was for us, you'll have your food in no time...that place is a well oiled machine

Not sure if I mentioned it before. I went to Mary Brown's chicken. Man I loved it. Just got a 2 piece fried chicken with fries. It tasted better than the typical joints around town. Still grease in there, but seemed to be some type of fancier grease lol maybe they use a nicer oil or something, I'm not sure. I'd recommend trying it if you're out for something. Not a fancy restaurant, but they do have tables to eat inside. I'll be going back there soon.

With all the quality restaurants in this city, I find it amazing that any Salisbury Houses are still open.

I go to the Pembina and Stafford Sals all the time - just never before 2 am. Great for after bar, would never actually go there for lunch or breakfast. Stella's has taken Sals' crown as Winnipeg's brunch spot.

Tried Have a Nice Day today. Cold weiners and stale buns. Tots with pico were good though.

Can't see it lasting, seems more like a hangout than anything else. People sitting in there using the wifi drinking Starbucks coffee.

Same with the North End one, it is like an old time social in there after 2.

I tried Stellas a couple of times last summer. Expensive and pretentious. Want a good breakfast? Luda's $4.99 special.

Saying that you finally got around to trying Stella's last year and found it expensive and pretentious is a crotchety old man statement even by your standards, Riverman. The Cafe Breakfast is about as cheap as most bacon and eggs breakfasts but their hashbrowns are better, you can get sourdough toast that they make at their own bakery, and they make their own delicious jam. But these are just the opinions of a pretentious food snob.

That said, you're absolutely right about Luda's. I'd say they have the best club sandwich going in the city too.

As for Salisbury, they really need to open a downtown location again. I miss their old location in the Greyhound depot, and the Pembina and Stafford location is just a bit too out of my way when I want to drunkenly eat kielbasa at 3am.
