Look, I'm pretty liberal and agree that we need more affordable housing but there are serious issues with this building/block. I have a buddy that got shot after getting a piece of pizza right here as he got caught in gunfire directed at a drug dealer.

Do your homework before closing on the condo. What is next door? Is it a low density use on private land? Think how it's redevelopment will affect your views before making an 🞵🞵🞵 of yourself and parading around as a NIMBY in 5 years

Haha. I couldnt even ever afford a storage closet in there as my house. But yeah those views are bound to be blocked. And whenever you speak of jarta, he takes it as a compliment, even if it's negative. Remember not to feed him after dark.

Yes, this is good advice to an individual... if I was a realtor I would certainly encourage my clients to consider this issue. However, if everyone took this into account, developers would never sell new-construction condos, especially in evolving areas.

I think the recent rental boom is a good thing insofar as it tilts the balance of downtown back towards a crop of residents who are mobile, less obsessed with neighborhood issues, and fully able to move somewhere else if the neighborhood changes in a way that upsets them.

Views are not a right, but large apartment landlords are much better equipped than individual condo owners to deal with the externality of neighboring properties losing value due to blocked views, and better equipped to hold out for the inevitable boost in value that occurs when all those new neighbors fuel more shops, restaurants, and civic improvements.

Completely disagree here.....I think there handled rather skillfully, in an almost sculptural fashion.....in fact, Joe Valerie is one of 2 modern architects who jump to mind when I think of designers who generally handle balconies on contemporary high-rises (not a fan of balconies on the whole) really skillfully (the other being Ralph Johnson)....
