Yeah, true, one can check that, but... wow! I didn't expect him to be still logging on SSP at all! (I would've guessed both him and Chad would've had their accounts inactive since last November-ish.)

Uh oh, I clicked on "find all posts by this user" and his very last post was replying to me. I might've been the final straw

That's so sweet! kwoldtimer is still reading us, and can't log on from where he is (for some reason), so he went and instructed a friend or a relative to open up a SSP account just to reassure us that he's okay...

Y'know, you didn't have to go to such lengths, Acajack is generally reliable enough that when he said he recalled you mentioned you'd be away "under the sun" for a few months (I had zero recollection of that), I took his word for it.

Glad to hear you're doing well

It's always been a strange "worry" of mine that we would never truly know what happened to a user if they suddenly vanished. Say, freeweed has been dead-to-us since 2015, what if he died in a car crash in '15? People come and go, but when someone vanishes like that, you can never know what's behind it. (Unless, like esquire, they have stated in their will "my heirs must log on to SSP using this username and password, and inform the guys over there that I passed".)

Find what you think might be the ugliest location of the following chains in Canada and post it on here:

1. Tim Hortons

2. Canadian Tire

3. Walmart

I will be the judge. If this works out well then maybe I'll try some more. And by "ugliest" I am looking for locations that are unattractive, boring, ridiculous, tacky, depressing and well..... overall ugly.

Tim Hortons.

Tim Horton's, Broad Street and 11th Avenue, Regina SK

Mostly innocuous, but the building is pretty ugly. The awkward stairwell, the stucco. But what is truly appaling is that this is a major downtown intersection downtown. There is nothing contributing to a vibrant pedestrian environment. You even have to press the buttons on the lights to cross as a pedestrian. Three stories, set back to allow ample parking out front, zero curb appeal. It's got my vote for ugliest in Regina. I can find ones in uglier neighborhoods, but none that violate what the area should be like in such a vulgar manner.

The hotel that I stay(ed) at when I go to Regina on business is right near there I think.

Probably Wingate or Doubletree, although maybe the Holiday Inn on Rose. That whole section needs a bulldozing, although the Holiday Inn is a good building that should stay. Regina council needs to stop approving suburbia in the downtown core.

^ Victoria and Broad is a proper urban intersection, but then you go a few blocks north and it just goes to hell in a handbasket. I guess it's always tough with those types of transitional neighbourhoods, but I think the City of Regina has been a little too laissez-faire around there... Broad should be held up to downtown standards, even north of Victoria.

Sad thing is is that one of my favorite restaurants -- Saigon by Night -- has managed to survive that block of Broad Street between 11th and 12th Avenues. Not sure how they do it surrounded by Imppark lots and a couple of doomed commercial buildings. Only Love Plus has also managed to survive that block of despair.

It's going to be hard to top this. Even the ugliest standalone location design possible will be nicer than this building.

On the other hand, the fact that this especially ugly building happens to house a Tim Hortons, among other things, places it in a different category, because it's not actually a Tim Hortons building, it's just a building that happens to have a Tim's in it.

If the famous Laval Clocktower seniors' home had a Tim's location within it, it would win the thread, but that wouldn't be the point, right? We want the ugliest Tim's buildings, not the ugliest buildings. Any ugly building can happen to contain a Tim's as a tenant, but it's not like it's the chain's fault that the design is atrocious in this case.

The worst part about this is they bulldozed half a building to make that happen. I don't recall it being a particularly nice building, and it was an empty space for a couple years, but at least it went to the corner and looked like it belonged downtown.

Well, the original statement was "ugliest location." Even a Timmies in the parking lot of the Laval Clocktower would probably win. It wouldn't even need to be in the building itself.
