Measure S Polling

Does anyone have any data on how well Measure S is polling right now?

For example a streetcar has a single loop. If a train breaks down (and as a rail rider you know they do) the entire line shuts down until it's moved. A bus break down and it's a minor inconvenience for the people on the bus that have to wait 5 min for the next bus.
Fair comments but unless you load and unload at the ends the Silver Line is one of the most dystopian transit projects I've ever ridden. Those stations in the middle of the highway while cars whiz by at 75 MPhil? Truly terrible.

@car free la - it's been stated repeatedly but for short distances it's cumbersome to walk way down to the subway. Great for longer distances but if I'm going 1 to 3 miles I'd rather just hope on above ground rail transit

If I'm going 1 mile I'd rather walk. If I'm going 2 miles I'd rather bike. If I'm going 3 miles I'd rather take a bus in a dedicated bus lane, particularly if the money that would have gone to the streetcar goes to a cheaper dedicated bus lane and a subway for trips of 4+ miles. (And PS. total time of a trip of even just 2 miles is probably faster by subway than by a streetcar in LA traffic.)

Yeah because the LA area is littered with dedicated bus lanes. Oh wait!

You could put them in for less than the streetcar, and shorten journey times more than the streetcar can. That's my point--streetcar funds are best used for bus lanes and subways.

I think the streetcar had a real appeal for tourists, its flashy, idiot-proof and makes downtown seem "put together", in my opinion. Maybe the money could be more optimally spent, especially when development savvy people such as yourselves analyze it, but I think it will be a real positive for tourists, and will bring people into he heart of downtown without forcing them to walk through streets that smell like pee. Riding on the bus is a bit daunting for the average tourist, and the subway seems a bit difficult to ride if you wanted to, say, go from Staples Ceeer to Broadway. The streetcar is really approachable and a sort of novelty, and I honestly dont see it trying to appeal to residents such a huge amount (even though they will obviously ride it) but as a way of injecting tourists where we want them to he downtown.

The street car isn't being put in for people like you.

Usually local papers do polls for huge measure that could potentially sink the local economy, but we’re stuck with the shit toilet paper called the LA Times.

I support the streetcar, but I think it is a big missed opportunity if it only goes in one direction around in a loop. It would certainly be a lost opportunity shuffling people from the subway to Staples Center for games.

Any route that doesn't serve the eastern section of South Park, South Broadway, Fashion District and the southern Arts District is just dumb.

That's probably true for City west as well with all that growth happening there.

What is the latest proposed route?

I suppose you could make the case for a streetcar on a street like Broadway, Hill, or Spring, and close that entire Street to all other traffic.

I love all these people just randomly finding out about the streetcar and having strong opinions

You'll see that in many subjects, not just streetcars...

I think his jab was unnecessary. I think some people really get over dramatic.

Looking nice, just hate that the parking is in the front, but I do like industrial look of it.
