The 19 story low income tower at 6th and Pedro is the most interesting to me. I distinctly remember King Kill Em proposing high rise housing for the homeless and several people laughing at him. Looks like he got the last laugh!

How downtown Los Angeles made a stunning comeback

Nice to see DTLA getting publicity. Not so sure about this stat:

Quote:
Between 1999 and 2014, $19 million was invested in downtown Los Angeles, according to the Downtown LA Market Report.
They quoted the link correctly but it's an underwhelming stat.

Olive feels too wide now with Altier's construction equipment no longer taking up half of it

If a street can survive with two lanes for that long... we should've dropped it to two lanes.

Beautiful photos Hunter. Thank you for sharing.

Update: Construction fencing is finally going up around 1133 Hope St. We saw a groundbreaking ceremony from them several months ago. May finally be on its way

I agree.. Grand and Olive did just fine as two lane streets.. They should extend the sidewalks, add protected bike lanes, kiosks and vendors

Changing the topic, does anyone think Park 101 will happen within the next decade or so? I know the Civic Center Redevelopment plans on it happening, but do you all think it will?

Personally all I can say is I want it to happen more then any other development besides maybe capping the 110.

Great news!
South Park is becoming a true expansion to DTLA's skyline right before our eyes.

Just speculation on my part, but I don't think so. It costs a lot of money to construct it over actual lanes of traffic and there are things that would be funded first, like teh streetcar.

At this point, I wouldn't discount anything in the new Los Angeles. We are in a time of great transformation; a city climate unlike anything in years past. Time will tell

Hell no. A 101 cap park is way more important and would be more beneficial to downtown than the streetcar.
