pretty sure it died a year ago. even their social media presences have been inactive for quite some time. unfortunately they ripped the roof off without replacing it before the project died.

It's a wonder the Connaught group hasn't bought it.

I thought they'd want the whole block to be honest. They'd have a nice little complex if they did.

Project Active Again

Looks like there may be new ownership and the project is alive again. There is a presentation on their plan for the building next week: https://www.bruha.com/event/1185

Looks to be the same or related owners. The Accardis and Ambitious Realty people have been either buying or brokering half of downtown in the last few years.

It's the same owners. What pisses me off is that they ripped the roof off it about 2 years ago and have done nothing to cover it since then. You can even see into the building in Google maps satellite view.

they have been using the roof as storage for materials, possibly even for the connaught restoration..

This went from offices, to residential, now it's being pitched as offices again. I'm happy it seems to be moving forward! It's a huge eyesore for John St

I have been noticing that a lot of buildings that are "eyesores" now were really bland "revisions' of originally grand old buildings in hamilton - back in the day pretty much every old building in hamilton was grand.

You can find the elevations here: https://d3fpllf1m7bbt3.cloudfront.ne...10-19-2017.pdf

Looks like a curtainwall system will be used! This is a decently old building, so I love the idea of the old insides shining through a new glass facade.

First post on Royal Brickworks thread: March 2015
Property up for Sale:August 2019
New building occupancy: 2025? 2030?

By contrast:

CIBC Square, Bay and Lakeshore E, Toronto:
2 x 49-story towers
Ground-breaking ceremony: June, 2017
South tower opening: 2020

Things move quickly in Hamilton.

71m would be anywhere from 20 to 25 storey, depending on the ceiling height.

Would the Royal Connaught want this to tie in for their phase 4 or 5?
