That's part of it. but it's also how something that's being dealt with needs to be placed in its proper...or full...context.
I don't really care for the design of the new apt bldg at olympic & olive....I believe it will even have silly looking outdoor draperies hanging on its upper deck. But when placed against all the parts of dtla that still have to be filled in, cleaned up, or torn down & replaced with something halfway decent, spending a lot of time criticizing the design of new devlpt does make me think of the humorous tag line of...
but that's due to new devlpt in dtla having to be set against the backdrop of much of the hood still looking like this....

It's actually shocking when you compare dtla with the way it should have always been, well before today....based on the shape & condition of other cities compared with LA.
Many ppl are going to notice things like that....fully aware of the differences if they're well traveled, or world travelers.....more than they'll notice the architectural quality.....or lack of such....of even GH palmer's tuscan wonders or bldgs like Olympic & olive.
