SaskPower says it has identified four potential sites where a new natural gas plant could be built.

The locations are in West Sherwood, just north of Regina, as well as Rowatt, Belle Plaine and Moose Jaw Industrial Park.

Look for this to end up in West Sherwood right next to SaskPower's biggest customer, Evraz. Belle Plaine would be #2. Several big power user's there. Either way this be a nice industrial project for the Regina area. I believe Rowatt has a major substation and is probably on an existing major transmission line from Estevan or Coronach, but this location was thought to be ideal for serving major potash mines proposed for the Kronau area. Those projects are all but dead.

Cost would be about $700 million - so about 2.5 Mosaic Stadiums.

That report sure doesn't make it sound like critical renovations. That's a big spend for a campus that has been claiming they are broke. Part of me understands you can only put off projects so long and keep doing maintenance. Part of me gets that a lot of it is accounting, under which column they record what and that the whining in the media is mostly about ensuring the funding is coming their way. But the timing of this seems rather strange to me.

I am really excited and impatient to see the Railyards renewal begin breaking ground. It can't come soon enough. I am also guessing ALT hotels will be considering that land for their Regina hotel and I hope Cineplex will take interest and Save On Foods. Maybe Goodlife too! ALT hotels don't have gyms so it would make sense to be close to one.

It looks like Metalsmiths is moving to Grasslands. Their website says a new concept corporate store opening in January 2017 so they are a bit behind. Anyone know where in Grasslands this is going?

Unfortunately, probably none of that will happen, save maybe a gym.

ALT would be more likely directly downtown. Cineplex doesn't want a downtown location. Save on Foods isn't going to go their either due to parking and a lack of residential.

Realizing McDonalds and KFC serve shitty food doesn't make one elitist. And for the record, it's not as if I don't like a good greasy burger or fried chicken. But I'd take Church's Chicken, Popeye's or Chick-Fil-A any day over KFC and Five Guys, Carls or Fatburger any day over McD's.
