But curtains do matter. Those floor-to-ceiling clear glass windows look great right now, but you can see right in to every unit from street level. They are the most transparent windows I have ever seen on a building. No resident is going to want that, so they're going to have curtains. Given the amount of glass, it's probably a couple of thousand dollars per unit to do curtains correctly. If the developer provides them and they look consistent, things will probably be okay. If people provide their own, it's going to look like a mess.

I agree the trim isn't on at the right-hand side, but it is all trimmed out on the left-hand side and you can see the aluminum accents with black frames.

I agree about that miserable 20 storey condo thing. It's like Brusnwick towers! We already have enough dreary grey commie blocks. But I like the Pearl as long as they don't make too many of them. I notice more building s with the wavy Theodore Tugboat caps on. Like the Dillon and actually that ugly grey condo tower.

I like my ugly grey condo tower, thank you very much!

As for this this, they built it approx. 3 feet away from our building at the base so from lack of sleep due to construction, I'm not the most happy with it. Design wise, hoping they find something to mask the windows and I feel sorry for the people that bought the units that aren't facing Citadel Hill, as the only view they have is the brown office building currently used by Revenue Canada, and our garbage alley.

Looks like the Pearl has begun renting. One think that I've seen on the amenities that I didn't realize was going in - rooftop pool? Where is this located, does anyone know? Floorplans look like there is some space in the penthouse part on the north side?

Not to start THIS debate again, but $1,300 a month to rent a one bedroom?

You could buy a 2 bedroom condo not too far away.

...and then sit back and wait years for the other units to be sold as the developer starts renting the unsold units...and then buyers remorse kicks in.

I've always assumed this is normal rent? When I went to school I worked, shared a place with roommates for $600 each. When I graduated, I started working at a better job and now I have a one bedroom for $1500/month. If I didn't want to pay this much, I wouldn't live downtown. It's just assumed.

Fair enough. I guess I've turned into one of those old cranks that can't imagine paying more for rent on a 1 bedroom than on the mortgage for my 5 bedroom!

Different strokes for different folks

I prefer an urban living. Closer to work, closer to everything, which is why I choose to pay more. Eventually would like to put a mortgage down on a condo here downtown.

Ah, I looked at a unit there last summer, but the view was of an alley so we didn't take it.

Went to look at a few units this weekend. It is still very much a construction site and no units are close to being done, but it was really cool to see some of the unique layouts and amazing views!

I didn't grab a pic of it as it was not finished yet, but this building also has a unit that will have a big soaker bathtub with a view out over the citadel and city. #lifegoals

Does the Pearl have finished model suites? I am just curious about how people can get in to take pictures? Whatever the case, I am happy to see interior shots.
