635 N. Wells is well on its way to turning out 100 times better than the rendering, which I thought made it look dull and dated.

^First thing I also thought was where's the steel?! Lickin my chops over here. Happy to see they're going old-school.

^^ They aced it on 640 N Wells as did Magellan at 167 W Erie. Totally upstaged the beige brick BkL tower nearby on Superior, which disappointed and is just background noise at this point.

I know right? Last project I saw where they went high with the core and no steel was Wilshire grand in LA. I think they had the core up half way before they started with the steel. Reminds me of those old Marina tower photos when they were under constuction back in the day. Looked like two smoke stacks that got turned into skyscrapers.

I took a picture from one of the top floors of 150 N Riverside and labeled it with as much recent and ongoing construction as I could. There are a few that you can't see (400 W Huron, 351 W Huron, and the Atrium come to mind), but I'm sure I missed a few others.

river north sure is changing. that pic really shows off what a hole in development the Rn'R McD's area is fast becoming. it's only a matter of time now.

Great picture! It's funny to zoom in above 215 w. Hubbard and see that zoo of color. Mcdonalds, hard rock, rainforest. Blah. Knock that ugly tourist crap down and build some towers.

River North needs some "pedestrian friendly" sprucing up with all these new developments coming. The stairs and the under passes at Wabash or Michigan are bad. The sidewalks on State street are too narrow. LaSalle Street is a bit scary to cross. Some streets, like Hubbard has the high step curbs. I saw Blue Mercury is opeing up at Clark and Kinzie. It's not necessarily trendsetting retail, but all that space can't be just bars and restaurants (and a few design stores).

VE is the owner's best friend and a requirement on every single project. It sucks.

some of it doesn't bother me. Right now it's like that area is caught inbetween. It either needs to get more gaudy and times squareish or knock all that stuff down

The BP gas station needs replacement too

Yeah. Slowly but surely happening with these two being built and now the body shop/parking lot at LaSalle/Erie getting demo permits - and the new hotel being constructed at LaSalle/Hubbard.
