This is garish.....a condo ad for a new condo development in Vaughan's currently Detroit-esque soon to eventually be Metropolitian area. I don't understand what kind of marketing team this developer has....this is just weird.

As cartoony and hilarious as that ad seems it still makes more sense to me than some of the crap we've had here. One of the worst being the ad campaign for London condos in the mid 00's. They had the most irritating radio ads complete with fake British accent lady and a song that went "I like London... London.. London" echoing and fading.

Here is the forgettable piece of modern commie block crap they named after one of the oldest and most interesting cities in the world:

The future is 1990s Vancouver.

Oh and unsurprisingly said 'luxury' affordable condo had a massive building envelope problem that had to be fixed. Not sure if it was a special assessment or if they caught it within warranty timeframe.

At least it's located in the Macleod Trail wasteland and not downtown or anything. Seems less offensive in those surroundings.

It stood out. I don't remember ever coming across another marketing campaign that was sold to two developments in two different cities and I'm sure they exist.

It is about selling units. I can't think of a more unattractive area to buy a home to live right now. Detroit isn't ugly. It's just abandoned. Vaughan City Centre is a hive of retail and industrial activity. It's just incredibly ugly.

Speaking of VCC, something I meant to post a few days ago during the overhead wires debate. Not to harp on it anymore, but I find this suburban combination to be far more offensive than the older poles in Toronto: https://goo.gl/maps/A9yo9dtzdU92

Streetscaping is really quite well done with landscaping and modern lighting... then we have these massive suburban wooden poles. Just ruins it.

It is for sure an undesirable area and actually a difficult site to work with as it's built on a hill. See link for streetview:

Exactly what I said. Even worse, these lines aren't supplying above grade connections to street lighting or buildings. They could probably be buried very cheaply compared to downtown Toronto.

If I remember correctly, the plan is to bury them in VCC.

It was a Toronto campaign that was later used by a Calgary developer. It was well covered on SSP.

This link illustrates the confusion really well

I've been to St. John's a few times but never found the city hall and I don't remember seeing anything about it in the tourism guide. Now I know why!

Haha. It is quite the sight. The inner chamber is pretty nice though. Got to take some photos of my friend's civil wedding ceremony inside.
