An approx. 77% LF in December 2016 (-6% in total pax vs. 2015): http://www.caa.co.uk/uploadedFiles/CAA/C..._Intl_Air_Pax_Traffic_Route_Analysis.pdf

The reason I say approx. is I know AC didn't operate 2-4 days in each of Nov & Dec., but I don't know the exact number.

If you want to check other months/year, simply change this portion of the url Airport_data_2016_11

It's not 100% accurate as if you look for 2016_10 you'll notice they've allocated about 98% of the traffic on WS' LGW-YYT-YOW route to YOW...I'd hazard a guess that YOW would account for 50% of the route's traffic at most.
You're likely right about the data not being completely accurate, since it doesn't even show YYT prior to September. If your guess is accurate and Ottawa yields about 50% of that, then you'd have to think with a total of around 3,500 pax a month, YOW has to be close to getting a weekly LGW service again with TS, especially considering YUL has about 5,700 and has 2x weekly flights.

And VRA was on Mondays last year so makes sense. And if you mean YOW-FPO, that's a current destination, albeit a short season (first flight this Thursday, which was pushed back from around Christmas). Also making its first appearance this Thursday is YOW-MCO with TS.
Nope both YOW-FLL and YOW-MCO operated on Saturdays this past summer and AC cancelled YOW-FLL during the month of September...that was the first sign of weakness. Canadians get scared off by Trump isn't going to help our transborder numbers.

The thing is though, it's a lot easier to spread 3,500 pax over a daily flight vs. filling a 1x/week 310 to 80%. I just hope WS add YOW-LGW nonstop based on the success of the YOW-YYT 1-stop either 2-3x/week once they have more 763s or a daily 737-7MAX once those enter the fleet.

On a separate note, AC are unveiling their new livery tomorrow. 1 788 (FIN 801) and 2x 321 (FINs 458 & 460)...so hopefully it won't be long before one of those 321s makes an appearance at YOW.

In October, AC1262/1263 ran on Saturdays and Sundays, maybe why I thought it was that way the whole summer. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA1262/history/80

As yes that's true in the run-up to the full winter schedule.

Holy cow. That's basically a mish-mash of former liveries including:
-the 90s Eurowhite and black tail, but with the roundel back on tail.
-the 60s/70s black around the cockpit windows
-the 60/70s black typeface used for the font.

What's with the second roundel below the windowline?

Quite frankly if that's the best they could come up with, they should have just tweaked the toothpaste by sticking the roundel on the tail. At least that's unique. This is a major fail and much hype about nothing.

Don't forget the Star Alliance livery too. The lower roundel and black tail remind me of that.

I believe the 90s black tail was actually forest green, but it was so dark that nobody could tell it was green, so for all intents and purposes, it was black.

The *A tail is essentially AC's 1993 livery...which is now their tail again. This is bean-counter boring.

It appears that Air Canada is starting direct flights to EWR on March 26th on a CRJ 100 and ending flights to LGA on March 25th. So we now have AC and UA both flying to EWR and DL to LGA starting in April.

I'm booked to fly with AC to LGA in April and I see they have switched me to EWR. Although DL flies to LGA. they only have one direct flight at 6am. I wonder if the switch to EWR is because of the construction at LGA.

Seems too coincidental to the launch of DLs LGA service to be construction related to me. AC maintains the 3x service and UA has 2x E75, according to the dummy booking on AC.

Wow I never would have thought AC would abandon YOW-LGA. Well this should just about guarantee DL will be on YOW-LGA for the long-haul and should mean the eventual addition of a second daily flight to offer a business-friendly schedule. Looking beyond April for EWR:
For May it's 2x UA (1 ERD & 1 E75) & 3x AC CRJ
ForJuly, AC are showing 3x CRJ and UA are showing 3x ERD to EWR.

I just hope AC & UA co-exist at at least 5x/day on YOW-EWR or this will be another loss of transborder seats...unless DL up YOW-LGA to 2x. The benefit for AC switching is all the connections available at UA's EWR hub vs. very little at LGA, plus the few connections at the YOW end, which will continue to exist with the change in airports to EWR.

If you definitely want to keep LGA and not EWR, you can demand a refund from AC and then book with DL.

AC's Rapidair schedule still isn't making much sense. Checking in May YOW-YYZ has a new 1830 departure, but THE ENTIRE DAY is E90s. On the reverse, the only non-E90 is a 763 with a new 1830 departure, but there's a 3 hour gap between 2010 and 2310. Usually at night the schedule goes 2010 & 2230 or approx. a 2h20 gap. For mid-July YOW-YYZ the double 0600 has been eliminated and a 763 still shows as a new 1630 departure, but all the others except 1 are E90s. You've gotta think E90 is the default placeholder at this point. Otherwise, that's a massive cut in capacity on Rapidair.

Meanwhile down the road in YUL, AC just announced a seasonal return to YUL-TLV 2x/week and WS are launching Q400s to YQB (4x), BOS and YHZ (2x each) plus more capacity to YYC and YVR. YOW just keeps getting a whole lotta nuthin'.

While we're on the topic of AC capacity cuts....http://www.routesonline.com/news/29/brea...k-at-network-connectivity/?highlight=yow

YOW has less capacity now with AC than they did in 2010 in both domestic and international.

Funny I was just about to post the same thing. That shows the % drop in the number of departures, but it's self-evident from YOW's years of stagnation and over-reliance on AC...not to mention PD's years of stagnation too. In fact AC was the 'leader' among the airline's major domestic cities for flight frequency losses.

I think WS' YOW-YHZ/YYZ expansion last year likely accounts for most of 2016's growth. AC's seat capacity probably expanded last year too, but the # of departures was at best stagnant as the primary change was increased average aircraft gauge on Rapidair.

Actually, I prefer the EWR schedule to the LGA schedule. To LGA, AC has early-morning, mid-afternoon, and early-evening flights. To EWR, the mid-afternoon flight has been replaced by a mid-morning flight, which I prefer and which AC re-booked me on.

As to getting into Manhattan from either airport, there is not a big difference in convenience between EWR and LGA.

One big problem AC may face on the EWR route is the terminal they use. This relates specifically to those wishing to connect from AC onto UA or most other airlines at EWR. AC flies into Terminal A, however their gate location requires people to exit the secure area, use the airtrain (or walk in some cases) to the next set of gates then re-enter security again. Depending on the time of day, going through Security at EWR is a test of patience.

It looks like AC discontinued YOW-LGA to make room for more YYZ-LGA flights. In April, there are 13 daily YYZ-LGA flights, leaving hourly during the day.

It's tough to tell given how AC's summer schedule is a work in progress. YYZ-LGA has been 13x for a long time even with YOW-LGA. For the summer, I'm seeing YYZ-LGA at 14x, but LGA-YYZ is at 15x. Similarly YUL-LGA is currently 7x, but LGA-YUL is showing as 8x. In other words the 3x YOW might be going 2x to YYZ and 1x to YUL. Either that or AC lost 3 slots at LGA. Maybe for the past 20 years they were leasing the YOW slots from someone else?

Here's an interesting article and AC and the coming CSeries: https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articl...could-enable-broad-network-chang-434067/
